A trip to Ramsgate (photos)

We recently enjoyed a pleasant walk from Broadstairs along the beach to nearby Ramsgate.

Ramsgate had an impressive marina but the town centre was a bit disappointing.

That's a fair assessment. I do like the second picture in the set above, though, as it seems to sum the place up.
That bloke was shuffling along and I was waiting for him to get out of the way so I could take the shot.

But he stopped and started staring at the floor for ages, so I gave up waiting.

I think the walk from Broadstairs was the best bit. Some of the garish bars in the town suggest that things can get a little spicy, come the weekend.

You did better than me, I found it to be a shithole.

Depends where you go. I think its a great town. Loads of really nice old houses and flats and friendly people. But then it is more than a bit rough around the edges but so are plenty of seaside towns. Its only a very few like Brighton, Southwould,Whitstable and Bournemouth that managed to prosper despite cheap foreign holidays.
The beaches are also great in the area.

There's a mahoosive UKIP office on the walk into Ramsgate from the train station, IIRR - that tells you mucho. Plus isn't the train station, whilst quite impressive, in the middle of a suburban semi-detached council estate for some reason?

Deffo rough town centre. When I went, kids were throwing stones at each other across moving car traffic.
