A Normal Life: Vassilis Palaiokostas and Greek illegalism

Rob Ray

Weight is meaningless
Hi all, a few people may have noticed Freedom's been doing a more sizeable project than usual, which is the story of "Greek Robin Hood" Vassilis Palaiokostas, possibly Greece's most famous bank robber and prison escape artist. We just sent it to the printers, so thought now might be a good time to flag it more generally! Vassilis is an interesting guy but also an interesting sort of phenomenon, falling somewhere between old-fashioned social bandit in the "rebel against occupying authority and Capital" sense, modern illegalist and classic bank robber.

Anyhow more here for people who are interested, 20% off until he 17th: A Normal Life (pre-order)

On a broader level, we're also considering doing a bit of work on the phenomenon of Greek libertarian rebels, how the movement there grew out of the Athens Polytechnic struggle and the fall of the Junta etc. There's some good studies on it, but most revolve around the 2008 riots so plenty yet to talk about I think. Do folks have recommendations/thoughts on that score?
