12 Bar Club 'set to return to Denmark Street'

I really hope so but it this is bollocks, isn't it?

Recently, I was given a glimpse behind the curtain of the Outernet London construction site by contractor Skanska and guess what? They have preserved every brick and graffiti scrawl of the original 12 Bar Club and have it trussed up in protective palette ready to be re-instated in its original location on Denmark Street. I briefly pitched the idea of bands performing in the venue while hanging from a crane (always thinking!) until someone with a clip-board and a hard-hat gave me all the reasons why that definitely couldn't happen.

Sadly it does seem to be bollocks :( there's a new venue in the old space - 'The Lower Third'. The shop front bit is just a generic bar, middle bit is toilets and the back room has been stripped of it's balcony and only the firstplace remains. The room with the pool table seems to have been lost. The only graffiti scrawl I saw was the remains of a sailor jerrys thing. Best part of £7/pint and they bought a couple of glasses of water to our table (not sure if that's a usual thing or just a nod to the fact we were quite a bit more pissed than the other people there)

The staff were friendly enough (apparently they get a lot of people coming in asking if it was the 12 Bar) but the place was as soulless as one might expect. To be fair there wasn't any live music on and much of the problems could be dealt with by just turning the lights down a bit but sadly the protective pallet containing every brick and graffiti scrawl has either been lost or sold off by the looks of things

Ironically the following poster was on the walls, I like to think whoever chose it did so intentionally.
