Larry Ellison looks like he's just fetched up from a couple of Speical Brews in Windrush Square.

He's just floated the idea of the purchase of TikTok by the Govt with a somewhat surprised looking Larry Ellison live on TV :D

'Larry, what do you thin, is this a good idea?' 'Yes Mr President'

I will say this, as the Sky reporter just pointed out, he's infinitely more transparent than any other president. Biden would never have taken questions like that, freewheeling. Probably sending markets into god knows what spirals. Casually mentioning the date tariffs will be put in, and the amount. You'd normally brief everyone before saying something like that. The EU's gonna be getting huge tariffs too he just casually throws in during the questions.

She's the same bishop who called Trump out for holding a Bible in front of the church after tear gas was used on Black Lives Matter protesters in 2020

She called Mr. Trump's photo-op a "symbolic misuse of the most sacred texts of our tradition."

"After speaking so harshly and with militaristic overtones to the nation, he had the park of peaceful protesters cleared with tear gas and officers in riot gear to make a symbolic gesture, holding a Bible as if to spiritually condone a message and a posture that is antithetical to the teachings of Jesus and everything as a church we stand for," Budde said.

Just in a Quite Interesting way I looked up corporatism wiki the other day and it says I misunderstood what corporatism was:

"Corporatism does not refer to a political system dominated by large business interests, even though the latter are commonly referred to as "corporations" in modern American vernacular and legal parlance. Instead, the correct term for that theoretical system would be corporatocracy. The terms "corporatocracy" and "corporatism" are often confused due to their similar names and to the use of corporations as organs of the state."

"Corporatism is a political system of interest representation and policymaking whereby corporate groups, such as agricultural, labour, military, business, scientific, or guild associations, come together etc etc"

Ive got a feeling that its too late though and the meaning has changed by the way it is used in common parlance.

According to the wiki Musollini's meaning was the orginal meaning of corporatism, though it could be said the scale of corporate business was never on the same scale as in the 30s as they are today, so maybe the difference between the two definitions is more one of a different social make up over time.

Also there doesn't seem to be any evidence that Mussolini ever said that: Mussolini on the Corporate State

Not quite clear where he thinks she should be deported to...

Georgia Representative Mike Collins, a Republican, posted video on X showing Trump’s visible displeasure during that part of the sermon. “The person giving this sermon should be added to the deportation list”, Collins commented.

Did anyone see the priest in church call him out? Well sort of, she made him and Shady and spouses look uncomfortable for a moment. She said there are a lot of scared people out there, due to his proclamations no doubt.

There are a lot of scared people out there. I've had two coworkers out this week due to anxiety. One of our regular patrons told me today that he had a panic attack last night after watching the news fawn over Trump. I wonder how many lost work hours are occurring because of Trump's insanity. Or worse yet, how many people are choosing to end it all?

Ross Ulbricht pardoned

The scum that worked to convict him were some of the same lunatics who were involved in the modern day weaponization of government against me," Trump said in his post online on Tuesday evening. "He was given two life sentences, plus 40 years. Ridiculous!"

How horrible!!!

Thanks for posting that. Everyone seems to be covering Trump's actions/impact on a more global scale, we often forget about the people who are living under his rule.

Sadly, I think this may change soon. As soon as the raids and roundup of of illegals start, everyone will be worrying about the citizens again.

But regardless of media coverage, nothing really changes for you. People are still terrified.

I really hope everything works out for you and your friends.

Wait, so he wants to close the borders to cut the flow of drugs coming into the country but he's pardoning this notorious drug trafficker?

He's just selling pardons to the highest bidder isn't he?

I’m aware that some of the new posters aren’t posting. I’m assuming they’re reading along.

Well, speaking for myself, you assume wrong. I actually have a life outside this forum which involves dealing with my illness, looking after my family and looking after my mental health by having some chill out time. Reading some pedantic Internet fight is way down my list of priorities and certain threads on here just completely turn me off when they veer off topic and turn into a load of pointless spiteful jabs and one upmanship against strangers. But you're right that some new members aren't posting. Reading the shit going down here makes me completely understand why.

I think Trump's advisers explained that Ulbricht is white and very popular with crypto bros, and Trump asked why they kept talking after the first point

If I heard this correctly (I was still half asleep), Trump is going to allow police to go into churches and drag out illegals who have taken refuge in there. Churches use to be a place of sanctuary but obviously not in the US anymore. Some Christian he is!

Really interesting quotes from Musollini in there....ultimately though it ends with:

"The corporate State considers that private enterprise in the sphere of production is the most effective and useful instrument in the interest of the nation. In view of the fact that private organisation of production is a function of national concern, the organiser of the enterprise is responsible to the State for the direction given to production.

State intervention in economic production arises only when private initiative is lacking or insufficient, or when the political interests of the State are involved. This intervention may take the form of control, assistance or direct management. "

Which is still corporatism, in the vein of the mis-understood version . A totalitarian state pairing up with private corporate enterprise in tandem.

Churches, schools and hospitals, which were previously termed 'sensitive places'. It's outrageous. How brutal is it going to be?
