A quirky/gimmicky way of communicating their values and expectations? How dare they! That's worse than murder!

Hyperbole is worse than genocide.
It's a fair illustration of the smugness of TED though. I think its literally written in stone.

Would it be any less smug if they just gave a sheet of paper written in ordinary English? I'm trying to work out what exactly constitutes the smugness.

This was my favourite this year. Also read his book on his 25 year quest to sequence ancient DNA. We have always mixed, indeed.

They're a weird lot, the TED people. They like their events to be very orchestrated and - in my case - asked to see the speech in advance. They didn't like it much when I told then on the day that I told them I was going to talk about something else and then went about criticising them from the stage. All the people involved were nice individuals though.

And this isn't a TED talk but I found this talk on computer security funny and enlightening and a bit worrying.
