You know, sleeping with Lemmy, - not such a bad thing. I personally wouldn't do it, but could be fun for the laydeez.

:)

I'm confused...I thought getting backstage was just the first part of the ploy. Sleeping with band members the ultimate aim of a Groupie.

I know someone who got backstage and was given a bag of cocaine by Lemmy in 1981.

Well you know Hollis, if he does the same thing that he did to Groucho's mate everyone's a winner.

How would he feel about an accountancy middle manager being my plus one though? :p

Well y'know with the invention of the internet getting in touch with bands has never been so easy.... ;)

poor young zenie. ;)

Yeh, you're supposed to work through the roadies / crew to get the backstage pass so you can get to be a groupie.. not the other way round.

I've never done it, although I did get a christmas card from Evan Dando once. I think it was the precursor to something very special but then he moved to Australia and became a mentalist

Apparently she got 'a kiss' ;) off Lemmy too, plus one off Filthy Animal but Fast Eddy was in a strop. :)

I find the mentality of some groupies difficult to understand.

When I was at college in the very early 80s, there was a attractive young lady who used to bake a cake and try to take it backstage to every (male) band that visited the campus, and admitted that she slept with most of them . She wasn't fussy about which band it was as long as they were famous.

My old roomie was a succesful groupie as those things go. She's fucked about 15 what I would call BIG name rock stars, and is still friends with some of them. I didn't exactly understand the motivation, but she and her groupie mates always seemed to have a brilliant time, they were at the upper end of the groupie hierarchy in that the bands would keep in touch with them, send cars for them, and treat them well, if only for a night or two while they were in town. I rode on her coattails a few times in terms of doing the backstage pass mularky....it was more surreal than anything else to me, not quite fun. I think I felt like an imposter.

They were such different types and personalities, definitely not any particular characteristics you could out your finger on. My friend has an $80,000 a year job and is motivated and successful...I think it was just the buzz - she started following the Backstreet Boys when she was 13 or so (little to no parenting in her life), and it just went from there.

She's 31 now and engaged with a daughter. She did settle down with a musician in the end - someone who's played with some bands that you'd have heard of, by by no means famous or a star himself.

Erm, dunno quite what the point of all that was - my experience of groupies, and my conclusion....she's lovely and that's about it.

I knew a girl who fancied herself a groupie, although I don't think she ever got any really big name notches on her belt.

I think she realized that it was time to move on, when she found herself giving a blowjob to the drummer of some local band. The lead singer, lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist, bass player, and the piano player, weren't interested.

Don't tell me. It was Kon Kan, wasn't it? :(

I used to know quite a few musicians back in the day, including a few names.
Didn't have to sleep my way backstage though - managed to get there by my own magnetic personality :D

God only knows I gave being a country bass groupie my best shot, but... the scene just wasn't ready for my raw passion :(
