Wood chippings and logs

newme

Giant in Pastyland now
We recently had a shared tree removed. It had to go for various reasons which are valid enough I can't be bothered going into it. Chippings and logs split three ways, what can I do with them? There's a huge pile of both. My only real project soon was a raised bed, these useful for any of it? Think it's a sycamore if that makes a difference which I assume it did. Have maybe half the volume of the proposed raised bed in chippings. A retaining trench to upkeep for occasional flooding and basically no intention to grow shit that doesn't require lighting or other things outside of the raised bed. Also a dog who I want to keep out.

Ideas?

I've got an ash tree coming down - I'd hoped to get 8 or so 10-foot quarter sections for construction type things but I'm now not sure what to build out of them. If nothing else Ash is good for burning (sycamore not so good).

I have a couple of mates that evangalise about hugelkultur and it sounds like you may have the ingredients.. The ones I've seen look lovely.
