Who should i vote for in Hackney?

feerd

no flies on me
I hate the war and Blair
but I hate Respect and Galloway
I am suspicious of Jules Pipe and the local Labour party and all the dodgy redevelopment scandals etc but I don't want any nutters messing things up further.

Nobody has asked for my vote and the only people i have seen on the streets are the Hettie for Hackney purple bus gang.

What should I do?

well I will be voting Green, in the absence of a respect to candidate, so you could reciprocate, and salve your conscience.

i voted for monty goldman (CPB) jus cos he's old and has been around so long and always comes to picket lines and stuff. then for the councillors i only had a choice of labour, tories, lib dems and one green (3votes) so i spoilt by ballot paper.

ps. i didn't vote for 'hettie for hackney' cos i read her election thing which came with my postal ballot papers and it was just completely insane.

ffs DONT vote for whover it is that has the huge purple bus (is it hattie? or hettie or something?)

when i was at the funeral of my friend last week we were chatting with his uncle outside St James Church when that bus rolled past and the stupid ignorant fools inside got on the loud speaker (above the music) and demanded we all wave. it stayed there for AGES whilst we felt more and more uncomfortable

"c'mon, yes you in the black, wave! c'mon wave"

arsehole

Why vote for the Hackney Independent in Haggerston when you can vote for me? But seriously at least one of the HI candidates is in his own words "actively supporting" the Tories elsewhere in Hackney. He has also signed the nomination papers for Andrew Boff the Tory candidate for Mayor in Hackney. Hackney Independent used to be the Hackney IWCA. I might have my criticisms of the IWCA but im sure they would not stoop to supporting the Tories.

Glad to see you are voting according to such strong political principles. I wouldn't want to see trivial issues affect your judgement.

In Hackney, you at least have a choice of candidates and you can actually vote for a socialist. Here in Hammersmith and Fulham it's the same tired menu of Lab, Cons and Lib Dems.:(

i think that my reasoning for voting monty goldman is good, i don't want to vote for any of the others standing, although he's a stalinist a lot of what is in his little manifesto thingy i agree with, he does always show up on picket lines protests etc showing his support dispite the fact he's ancient.

Why do you keep repeating this on all the various LW sites Barry? whats your agenda?

I'm in Queensbridge. I'm not completely certain who to vote for tbh: Mima Bone probably for mayor, um, Ralph Smyth for local councillor (both Green)...after that it is really a plethora of poor choices. I suspect Boff will get in as a councillor again - most of the shops on Broadway Market seem to be displaying his election posters. Jules Pipe will get in as Mayor again I suspect.

strategicvoter.org.uk is recommending I cast my two remaining votes for Respect, but I don't trust them at all. Lib Dems then maybe

His agenda is fairly obvious: He's the New Labour candidate running against Hackney Independent and he would prefer that people with left or anti-establishment views were stupid enough to vote for him instead.

And you'd rather they voted for the person who nominated a Tory? Or is this another ballot paper to be torn up?

You say Monty is a Stalinist. His manifesto seems really sound and progressive.

Does anyone in the CPB believe in Stalin anymore? Never seen anything on their website.
Come to think of it dont see much mention of Stalin in Morning Star either.
I think Monty seems honest and with far more integrity than those pseudo lefts in Respect.
