Which Video doorbell?

butcher

boner at the ready
I'm thinking of finally getting a video doorbell.

Anyone got a recommendation as there are loads out there.

Preferably no contract

I was a fan of Eufy and own lots of Anker stuff but they made a pretty epic security blunder then handled it badly so is be a bit wary.

I'd say they're all pretty equally horrible, security-wise. Though only Ring offers your data to the cops.

Don't buy one that forces you to use their servers in order to see your videos. They'll all abuse you with ever increasing subscription fees (Amazon/Ring), and there's a good chance the company will go bust (not Amazon, but most others), then you're screwed.
I've bought a few Reolink cameras, which don't force me to pay somebody else in order to see my videos. They're good cameras, and the videos they take belong to me, not Amazon.

Are you an Apple/iPhone user? May be worth holding out to see what they're rumored to launch soon.

Or take a look the at Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell. https://www.netatmo.com/en-gb/smart-video-doorbell - works with Alexa, Google and Apple Homekit.

Videos are stored on the microSD card provided, locally or directly on your personal cloud, app updates automatically, with no subscription or extra fees. Having owned one of their products before (not a doorbell but an indoor web security camera) I can vouch for their quality.
