William to thread, paging WIlliam.

So what festivals are you going to this year? We're off to:

Indietracks
Once Upon A Hill
End Of The Road

Been a pretty good year for open air gigs so far. Nick Cave, The Cure and Paul Simon were all great, but looking forward to getting to a proper festival...

I'm too busy going to them to have time to list them just now!

Hopefully though, I'll get round to contributing to this thread in a few days, we actually have no festival :hmm:  over the weekend of Sat 28th July and we will for once be staying in Swansea ... with a small beer festival in one of the (few) better pubs to look forward to ... :D

I’m volunteering at Boardmasters and going to EOTR as a punter.
I’ve never been to either and I suspect they’ll be very different experiences!

Not going to any music based festivals, but will be attending some Steam Galas / Rallies ... if I had the both the time and money I think I could go to at least one event every weekend from around March & April to the end of September. For most of July and August make that two or even three events ...

I've been to a couple of small ones already: cloudspotting a few weeks ago, woodland gathering the weekend just gone and sounds from the other city in May. Not actually sure if I'm going to any more, but I'd like to...

I went to Bearded Theory a while ago, off to Nozstock this evening, and then Shambala in a few weeks. Possibly going to Sunrise or Farmer Phils, but more than likely I will be camping in Wales instead

I've been to a couple already, namely bangface weekend and hope festival.

Our one got cancelled which I'm still fuming about.

I've got Chilled in a field, Boomtown and Shambala in august, then Wonderland Garden Party in Sept.

Sadly lacking in festivals this year.

Wanted to go to EOTR & bought deposit tickets but then my partner couldn’t get the time off. Thankfully they refunded. Next thought was Shambala but they had sold out but prob chance of re-sell but we have settled at going to Eindhoven for Fuzzclub festival & stopping in a hotel.

I went to Moseley Jazz, Funk & Soul for the day.

It’s most unusual for us. I feel a tad sad about missing out on that time is a illusion you get at festivals.

Nicely spaced out.

I miss Shambala, such a beautiful colourful festie.

Been to Glastonwick
Got the tickets for a day trip to Wickham
Can't really do any others due to an excess of drivers over cars chez mx, but hoping to get to the Blyth Power Ashes.

Really need to sort a van out. New windows are higher up Mrs mx's list though.

Thought I was doing none but then a Boomtown paid job came up.
The other festivals I want dont line up with my leave.

Really?! We paid deposits last year but the friend I was going with got pregnant and would have been 3 weeks from her due date (actually she gave birth early) and they refused to refund. Did you have cancellation insurance?

Went to Red Rooster at the end of May and going to the ever excellent Purbeck Folk next month.

I think I'm going to give Boomtown a miss as it's a Glasto fallow year and I fear that'll change the character of the place.
I've already been to two festivals with my band in France and Belgium and the excellent Leigh On Sea festival which I can't recommend enough.

Did Small World earlier in year and got Bimble Bandada next weekend. Worth it but all a bit of trek now I'm back in Scotland.

I've heard good things about Cloudspotting. How was it this year? Who played?

I went to Shindig in Somerset at the end of May- dance music orientated, small, good for families.
Going to Sunrise in Hereford in August- over my birthday weekend ( and bday is on a Saturday) again a small festival ( last year I think there were probably no more then 1.5k people) but expecting more this year as no Glastonbury. It's also more expensive this year but still only £125 including a camper van pass. I wasn't going to go but Stanton Warriors and Slamboree are headlining on the Saturday and I'm very excited by this. Also the rave choir I used to be with will be performing this year so lots of good mates will be there - excited! !
mr steev come to Sunrise!!!:)

Done Shindig, Field Day, Mighty Hoopla, Parklife and Noisily so far, Think I’m doing Boomtown and Leeds and that’s about it for this year.

It was smaller than usual this year, just one day. Last year it rained heavily in the run up and over the weekend itself, and they ended up losing money - ironic as it was blazing all weekend this time. The music isn't totally my thing but it's very family friendly and 45 minutes drive from my house, so I usually go if I've got the kids.

The lovely eggs headlined, sweet baboo were the most notable other band (I've since become obsessed with that group listening LP the guy from sweet baboo plays clarinet on...)

Yeah what I've heard of the Group Listening LP is lovely. They're on the same label as Haiku now so we've been trying to see if they can do a gig together...

Nope. I was very surprised too. I bought 2 deposit tickets & campervan pass which was around £200. They said they didn’t normally , I emailed about 48 hours after I bought them so maybe that made a difference?

Shambala refunds no questions asked to just a few weeks before festival. I had to be refunded last year.

2018 festivals that we've already done :

Bearded Theory, Late May Bank Holiday weekend, that of Saturday 26th May.
Strawberry Fair (free), early June, Saturday 2nd June {I went on my own to this one, but for all the others, we went together. Mostly with van!]
Sistafest [organised by Gail of Something Else Festivals], early June, wekend of Saturday 9th June -- very small but all bands/acts either all-female or female-led (bar one!)
A weekend in Glastonbury town, the June weekend we normally get onto the main site as crew, i.e. the weekend before peak Glastonbury weekend (that of Saturday 16th June). At least there was the Glastonbury Fringe fest in town still on -- free gigs etc. We also had a site visit up to Worthy Farm... very weird.

Claire's Western Fundraiser, right here in Swansea, the last w/e of June -- that of Saturday30th June.
Beer on The Wye (with camoing and bands!), Hereford, first full weekend of July -- that of Saturday 7th July
Once Upon a Time in the West, aka Out West, mid July -- weekend of Saturday 14th July..

Upcoming 2018 festivals :

Monmouth Festival, weekend upcoming, that of Sat 4th August
Farmer Phil's Festival, weekend of Saturday 11th July ( mr steev ?? )
Beautiful Days, weekend of Saturday 18th August.
Swansea Bay Beer and Cider Festival (with bands!), weekend of Saturday 25th August -- August Bank Holiday weekend.
Possibly one, or maybe even two, small other actual festivals in September. TBC, or not!
Something Else Now Not in the Dean, weekend of Saturday 29th September.

Not enough time to do links right now but they're all easily Googleable and/or Facebook-searchable :)
