Finsternis is interesting as well, and like all Herzog films, beautifully shot. Some of the shots of the oil wells on fire in Kuwait are breathetaking.
have you just given away the ending?
there isnt a plot or a story as its a documentary
A daughter of the late Klaus Kinski, the German actor who starred in films such as Fitzcarraldo, has accused him of raping her as a child over a period of 14 years.
"I kept quiet for years because he forbade me from talking about it," Pola Kinski, now 60, told Stern magazine. "The terrible thing is that he once told me that it was completely natural, that fathers all over the world did that with their daughters."
In the mad footage of him in My best fiend, I couldn't work out if Kinski was being serious or not. I guess that was the confusion he wanted to create, but I couldn't help feeling that he wasn't altogether joking. It wouldn't surprise me, the man was a monumental asshole in his private life and obsessed with bragging about his apparently Herculean sexual prowess and conquests. The media was always full of his bullshit in Germany in the 70s.
his autobiog is an incredible read, in every sense of the word. He was a repulsive man.
perversion is no bar to artistry.
apparently kinski freely admitted to fucking his own children - i haven't read it myself, but it's supposedly detailed in gods in spandex
Without wanting to sound all Pogofish, there's a thread about KK, here: http://www.urban75.net/forums/threads/klaus-kinski-sexually-abused-daughter-for-14-years.304758/#post-11870681
not entirely disimilar here. The Paedophile Information Exchange submitted - and was asked to submit - evidence to various government inquiries into porn and censorship.Something nobody wants to know about in Germany anymore, but in the 70s you could find pedophile porn in regular Newsagents, disgused as some sort of "naturist" magazine, though from the naked children on the cover it was blatand what it was even to me as a kid. Pedophiles also quite openly would place ads in lefty papers like Das Blatt. So when Kinski actually bragged about it it would have been in a climate of sexual "tolerance and liberation" where nobody batted an eye.
