Weird rubbish things you've encountered while travelling

I'll start with Canadian toilets. The water level is so high that you are in serious danger of dunking your hand while wiping.

Annoying rich westerners being rude to locals. Saw a few examples in Myanmar &Cambodia. Perhaps you could blame the heat....

SNCF and its arcane, Kafkaesque bureaucracy. They used to have three apps, none of which told you quickly and easily when your train was or how much a ticket would cost. Ticket machines that won't accept cards or cash under €20. Want to buy a ticket to somewhere just down the line? Join that 20 minute queue at the booking office and hope it's not the person about to serve you's coffee break when you get to the front. Trains timetabled to arrive five minutes after the most obvious connection departs. When's the next one? Three hours time. I could go on...

So you’ve had a nice time somewhere in Europe and are coming back on Eurostar. You have a few hours to kill in Brussels til your train so you think you’ll leave your luggage at the dismal Brussels Midi and go have a mooch about town. You find the lockers, but there’s pitifully few and there’re all taken, and there’s a queue for them too - also there’s no left luggage facilty with actual people to look after your stuff either. Now whatcha gonna do?
