well, a kitten really - the little baggage is too small to be called a cat.
she's a stray, been living at the bottom of my sister's garden since early summer (my sister couldn't take her in because she has 2 cats who were decidedly against the idea). my sister and her neighbour had been feeding her occasionally but she was still skin and bones - and desperate for any kind of attention or affection, to boot :(

Photo and i were visiting my sister last weekend, and we decided we just couldn't leave her - she was so tiny and pathetic :( so we bunged her in my sister's spare cat carrier and took her home with us
it was pretty unplanned, but then we'd been planning to get a cat in a few months, once we'd bought a house, anyway ... tho we were planning on getting a pair of quiet old cats, not a sprightly young thing!

anyway, she's had her first vet's appointment and the vet confirmed she's not chipped (and said that she wouldn't have survived the winter so we did the right thing by rescuing her). she's got flu and conjunctivitis, but other than that she's perfectly healthy. the vet reckons she's 7 months old. we've been given worming tablets for her, and drops for her eyes, and she's had an antibiotics shot. she needs all the usual immunisations, neutering, etc, so it's going to be an expensive few weeks for us - but it's so worth it. she's visibly putting on weight by the day, her energy levels are soaring as the flu treatment kicks in, and she's loving having a home to explore (and slaves to stroke her, feed her and play with her!)

i've only uploaded one pic of her so far, but here it is (having a yawn on Photo's favourite fluffy blanket (which she has monopolised!)) -

she's called tomasina :)

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Out little ickle kittie cat :D

She has started making the cutest noises. Not a mieow, or a sqeak or a yowl, and not even a pur but these little rolling r noises, like a rumbling trill. Don't know how to describe it.

Fucking lovely cat :)

do you think you could shrink that pic a tad please kea?

congrats on the cat anyway - she looks lovely :D

we seem to have gained a 3rd cat that has now taken up residence in our crog loft ...

what a beauty :)

ooooh you lucky things! (though maybe not with the vets bills... which vet do you use btw, mine need to go)

how's hopper doing? what do your cats make of the 3rd cat? if you take him/her, will you name him/her after an artist again? :D

IIRC, she may just have gone into heat. Could be kitten-time soon! :D

we haven't really any choice about taking this one - she's just moved in!

she looks like Hopper's little sister and has already been named Frida ... :)

ooh - and I've taken the liberty of shrinking the pics - hope that's ok.

that's great, thanks wolfie :)

yes i am v chuffed. and Photo has gone from being a bit ambivalent about cats to talking baby talk constantly and generally being a big pile of mush all the time :D :D :D

i was worried that she might be up the duff, but the vet doesn't seem to think so (plus she was really too small i think - definitely under-fed, tho she's catching up fast now!). and she's not allowed out til she's been snipped - one cat is enough for us for now, thanks!

And condolences to the mice.

i think she is going to be a VERY good mouser! she's a fierce little thing (tho also a warm snuggly purry bundle when she wants to be :D )

Cool, she looks like mine.

beautiful isn't she :D
<proud parent>

she's got a white bib with a really cool splash of tabby pattern right in the middle of it! and white tummy and paws. other than that she's got yer average british tabby colouring. wish i knew what her story is ... if she's 7 months' old she must have become a stray when she was about 2 months' old, since she's been living in my sister's garden all summer.

Looks like a killer. I reckon a few mouse heads will roll with that puss around.

Hey kea, I see according to the Times you and Photo are living in a cultural hot-spot Times Online

But you knew that already, eh? :)

I've got a cat flap and the perfect cat toys.

But I'm not allowed a cat :(

I was told before I got married that I could either get married or have a cat, but not both! :(:(

Bloody hell, they're supposed to start ordering you around after you get married!
