This may come as a shock to some people who have read my posts a few months back on the subject of the veil but what is the problem some commentators have about Channel 4 inviting a veiled Muslim woman to do the alternative broadcast? The whole point of the exercise is that it is an ALTERNATIVE to the usual fare offered at Xmas. If it is controversial, so much the better - I'm sure after this year, it will be! Is there a problem with this? I don't think so - no-one is being forced to watch it. Anyway, I'm sure she will be a bit more interesting than the ageing aristocrat on the other channel...
