URGENT: Syrian Visa

I need a Syrian tourist visa but I have a Sharm El Sheik stamp in my passport.

Just checking the embassey and it is saying I will be refused entry with this stamp. Presumably I would be refused a visa.

I googled this and found a response on ThornTree (lonely planet) that replied that it is Ok to travel and that some embassies are slow to update.

I'm planning on calling them first thing tomorrow.

Anyone got any knowledge of this?

Man alive...just went back to the embassey and went to the London one which doesn't stipulate no Sharm stamps. This is good news but it wants a letter from my employer!

I wasn't looking forward to spending £97 on a fast-track passport.

My flatmate goes to the middle east a lot and all I ever hear is stories of inefficiency, no information, queues outside embassies, countless documents, official stamps, blah blah.

Why can't they get their arses in gear and sort it out. Proper info, proper helplines, updated websites, offices that open during normal office hours (and weekends) Fuck queueing in the street for a 2 hour window of opportunity just to get a bloody stamp.

Sorry, that's not much help. But it sparked a rant from within.
