Unusual and GOOD cover versions

This is wonderful and so beautifully haunting. I've always loved the range of Ronnie's voice... I put him on a par with Corey Taylor - both can sing like angels and equally scream like the devil.
Papa Roach I've seen do this many times and I've sang it countless times over the years. it makes me want to scream and kick things - Falling in Reverse makes me want to cry and gives me goose bumps.

Another amazing cover of a song that's ran through my life for what seems like forever. I didn't think it could be bettered, but in my opinion, I think she's very close ....Hats off Kasey Chambers, this is second to none :)

I love this

Wedding Present - Come up and see me (make me smile)

TOTP
27 SEPT 1990

Just remembered I bought this on 10" vinyl at the time - pretty sure I still have it - they released on 10" a month that year iirc.
Some attempt to chart every month or summat.

Thought this was a cover of the Donna Summer song, but the original is by Jon & Valengis. This is the best version though. Chrissie Hynde’s vocals are sublime

Unusual that Alphabeat covered Public Image . . But I think I prefer it.

I really like Alphabeat's tight pop sound. They have shite songs, but they also have some really good ones, and some album tracks that are not what you would expect from them.

Thou put out two covers compilations this summer, one of all Nirvana covers and one of all not-Nirvana covers. I've been really enjoying the Nirvana ones, it turns out that Kurt Cobain wrote some pretty decent tunes.

Oh, and the Angelique Kidjo Remain in Light album is brilliant:

was gonna come on here and post this. never really got into nirvana but blessings of the highest order is an album I keep on coming back to.

two possible originals from august -34

kirsty mccoll & the 1st battallion of irish guards, new years eve, -94

Not exactly a cover but I’m putting it here anyway cos most will be familiar with the Kim Basinger version instead:

“An unknown Madonna recorded her vocals in 1983 but the Was brothers did not keep them for the version featuring on their 1983 album Born To Laugh At Tornadoes.
In 1990 Madonna was a megastar so the was brothers wanted to use her vocals to release a new version of the song with them to promote their greatest hits album. Madonna did not agree (they still hold a grudge to this day). They finally recorded the new version with Kim Basinger instead.
In 1992, House producer Steve "Silk" Hurley was hired to produce a new remix of the track and was sent Madonna vocals by mistake. He used them but that remix was only available on the vinyl version of the british compilation Now Dance 92. This is where this file comes from.”

If this hasn't been on here already, this is awesome. Some school students covering Tool, with a very well deserved 29 million views on Youtube.

BANGER!

Just heard this unexpectedly on the soundtrack of something I was watching and was reminded of what a great tune it is. I’d ignorantly assumed it was appropriated from a Japanese folk melody or something. I knew somehow that it wasn’t an original composition. Anyway, I got curious and looked it up and, d’oh, of course, it’s a Martin Denny song. Who I’d also ignorantly assumed was related to Sandy Denny.
Need to find out more about the genre of ‘exotica’ now - is it still cultural appropriation if the music is an original composition that pastiches so-called ‘world’ music?

That sounds like the theme tune to Hinata the Bullet Train.
