Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) in Brazil

Dodgy as fuck.

Brazil’s religious institutions operate without much scrutiny. Churches do not have to disclose their financial records to authorities, and worshippers rarely report their donations on tax forms.

Last year, federal police uncovered a ring of evangelical pastors accused of running a Ponzi scheme in which 25,000 churchgoers were asked to invest at least £750 with pledges of high returns that never materialised. The UCKG founder Bishop Macedo has faced down a number of scandals and was briefly jailed in 1992 on fraud charges.

In 2011, São Paulo federal prosecutors charged him and three other church leaders with money laundering, tax evasion and racketeering. Macedo is yet to be tried for the charge of money laundering, while the other charges have since expired or been rejected in court. Macedo brands the charges persecution.

OK, my principles are bound up with Jesus's wisdom, his sayings. He said woe to the rich and blessed are the poor. For example, Jesus told the rich man, sell your property and give it to the poor. He didn't say, allow the rich to flourish and let the poor pull themselves up by their boot-straps. What else? It is better to give than receive, a philosophy, a principle. If a man asks you to walk a mile with him on his journey, walk two, deny yourself. Where your treasure is that is where your heart is. I honesty don't like most of establishment churches, treated as a demographic, poisoned by politics.

What else did Jesus say: that Lazarus, the diseased tramp went to heaven, the rich man who didn't help him went to hell. There is a startlingly obvious theme here. That Jesus himself was NOT a Tory type, didn't have two private jets. Wouldn't if he could, rejected the world, defeated the world.

So most Christians, at least on the surface it appears, aren't actually Christians. You have your holy bible to tell you that. I'll give you four examples off the top of my head why Jesus was not a right-wing greedy bastard:

1. The good Samaritan. The priests did nothing. The Samaritan helped.

2. Sheeps and goats. For a man who dealt in parables and ideas of principles, if you call yourself a Christian you might want to pay attention when the man says, you fed/housed/clothed/visited ME when you helped these people. And you rejected me when you didn't.

3. His life's work. Healed the multitudes, preached the gospel. He didn't retire a relative billionaire. Or even well off. Instead he said he would be executed and carried on anyway.

4. He fought against those money lenders, merchants, and coin changers. He took them on by himself and drove them out with a whip of some sort. I mean the gospels themselves aren't long. You have to think about the principles and teaching behind them, otherwise its meaningless. So what does he mean when he says. 'you have made my father's house a den of thieves?'. Hardly being controversial am I?

I mean you don't have to like it, but its pretty clear what it stands for.

I don't think they're running this scam because they believe Jesus wants them too.

What really gets me is how brazen these evangelical prosperity gospel types can get, and yet their flock still willingly lines up to get shorn by their chosen shepherd.

One of them actually calls himself Creflo Dollar, for Christ's sake. Could they make it any more obvious that the God they truly worship is Mammon? Aside from constantly beseeching their followers for more money, that is.

With the size of the avatar and my shitty eyesight I thought you were Nicolas Cage for a second there

They've owned the Rainbow in Finsbury Park since 1996. Fuckers.
They're also big in Worfaamstow.
I'm pretty sure they own either the Potters House right by me, or the godbotherer joint up at the Bakers Arms, or quite possibly both.
Tomorrow I will check and post the findings here

UCKG are a dangerous religious cult that have brainwashed some 12 million people all over the world into giving them 10% of their income - tithe - so that founder Edir Macedo and leaders can live in extreme luxury. You do the maths.

UCKG are preying on vulnerable adults and teenage children at their “HelpCentres” (brainwashing centres).

Here’s my article about UCKG:

They were active in Croydon when I lived there. Was treated by to a homophobic rant by one of their members on the high street once. Told me that that because I have a penis i shouldn’t sleep with people who have penis. I thanked him for his interest in my penis. He then told me that he had a big penis. It was a confusing conversation

I tweeted Iceland:

@IcelandFoods
I trust you won't be inviting the extremely dodgy UCKG cult into your Brixton store this Christmas as unwanted bag packers, else I'll have to shop elsewhere

I agree with everything you said in your post, apart from the use of the word 'most'. 'Many', or 'some' would be more accurate, in my experience.

I have to go with "most" here. Sorry to all the real Christians out there, but your friends are making you look bad. Most I see are throwing around old testament phrases and using the word "Jesus" to cover up how truly awful they believe and behave. Often your next door neighbor is just as much a con as those tv preachers. They're just low rank cons and less honest about it.

There's a trail of money from some Evangelist churches to Bolsonaro in Brazil and to Chega in Portugal

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if there was a trail from Evangelical churches in the US to Bolsonaro. I know there is one from them to some of the radical Evangelist churches in Africa. And, there's precedence for it with Catholics in the US funding the more radical elements in Ireland.

What are you basing this on? I simply don’t recognise it
