Ugliest railway stations in the UK

One of my least favourite stations has to be Watford Junction, if only for the truly appalling access, and the sheer ugliness of the place.

The station's pretty unattractive too.

Huddersfield has the best station pub of any station - but maybe that's a separate thread....

4 stops down, (or up in railway parlance), Dewsbury is nicer,

Milton Keynes railway station is horrible.

It takes ages to get to, is all above ground so it's cold in the winter, and has a too-loud tannoy with the most annoying station announcer in the world.

It does have an impressively large 3-d BR logo above the main entrance though.

I think Frome is a lovely looking station.

I was back there today and thought about what you said as I waited for the train, but no, sorry, it's still ugly to me. It's not helped by the ugly surrounding buildings either.

I do think that the cut off line for Frome is a bad thing really. Same as Westbury.

The picture, of course, tells a slight lie. The taxi-rank, parking and roadways in front of the station are usually choc-a-bloc with traffic including buses from the bus station next door. It's a total cluster-fuck.

And then there's the sign next to it: "The Watford Partnership trusts you have enjoyed your visit"
