The thousand faces of Craig Fairbrass

Having watched the first 20 minutes this is the one where the franchise goes full right royal cockney barrel of monkeys

Hang on, is this supposed to be a pre-pre prequel or something, so these 50 year old actors are playing 20 year olds, ‘kin hell :D

They are a decent series of films mainly in that they provide something else compared to endless US films featuring Italian Americans

I watched Rise of the Footsoldier the other day. It was awful. An awful film about awful people. At the end I thought "good, you all got exactly what you deserved". There's a group of (usually) men who idolise these guys, I have no idea why. I cannot imagine how bad it is by number 5.

And why are they always in the fucking ICF?

The first one was based on a memoir by Carlton Leach, who was in the ICF.

Yeah I know. I mean that in these films they're always in the ICF. The Firm, ID, Green Street, Rise of the Footsoldier, probably more if I could be bothered to look.

It's autobiographical in ROTF, the firm in The Firm is the 'Inter City Crew'; and ID is about a fictional gang following a fictional team.
Righty ho. The Inter City Crew aren't the Inter City Firm. ID isn't "loosely based on "Operation Full-Time", a Scotland Yard undercover operation which attempted to identify the leaders of West Ham United's firm, the Inter City Firm (ICF)." (altho maybe that one is more Millwall) and yes, ROTF is autobiographical, but they're still in the ICF!

Cass is about Cass Pennant, who... was in the ICF. That generation of West Ham fans were very good at self promotion.

It just seems like every time I watch one of these films they're West Ham fans. It's not a big deal.

My ex boss was in the ICF. nice fella. really. necked loads of pills and other confections and transitioned from fighting every weekend to dancing every weekend.
never ever saw him being aggressive or anything apart from the time he was asked what his biggest high ever was and without a beat he replied ‘kicking a fucking copper’s head in’

Pretty sure these films quite often allude to or are otherwise inspired in part by some thing or other connected to the ICF is not exactly the same as the big claims of they're always in the ICF but tomato/tomato, football/muggy bonehead 🤷

Only ICF member I sort of knew from round here was a big boxer bloke a couple of years older than me by the name of Richard Wildman.
Even Cass Pennant thought he was a psycho and mentioned him in his ICF book.

"Hi, I'm Craig Fairbrass and might know me from these films and TV programmes"

Scum
Cliffhanger (main baddie vs Sylvester Stallone)
Rise of the Footsoldier plus sequels 2-5)

Or maybe on tv in

Tuckers Luck (showing our age now)
Emmerdale
No Place Like Home
Three Up, Two Down
London Burning
Prime Suspect
The Bill
Eastenders (137 episodes!)

Or maybe as the voice of six Call Of Duty games.

One of those guys you could walk past in the street but when you see him on TV you'll go "ooh, what's he been in before?".
I'm taken aback. I watched most of them and never realised they were his filmography. I presumed he was a mental lump turned to acting as part of a plea deal. Now I want a picture of him dancing on TOTP. Fabulous Fairbrass.

Played opposite Denzel when he was in one of his first starting roles in the pretty decent For Queen And Country 👍

It's weird in Britain that we are surprised that actors like Fairbrass or Dyer can on occasion be involved in Pretty Darn Good films, when in France dudes like Gilles Lellouche, Sami Bouajila, Vincent Lindon, Karim Leklou, Gérard Depardieu, Daniel Duval, Gérard Lanvin, Lannick Gautry etc can seemingly sustain long careers, including parts with plenty of meat in substantial movies with critical and popular success - despite not being conventionally handsome/pretty, in some cases rather leathery/balding, from modest backgrounds, and/or a little limited in range.
