The thousand faces of Craig Fairbrass

There are three Craig Fairbrass films on netflix. I've watched them so you don't have to.

Rise of the Footsoldier 3
Fairbrass plays a hardman in this prequel to Rise of the Footsoldier, about the 1995 Essex Range Rover shootings. Poorly scripted and plotted , I'll give it 2/10

Avengement
Fairbrass plays a hardman whose brother has escaped from custody and wants a word. This one is extraordinarily violent but at least tries to explain what's going on. 4/10

Villain
Fairbrass plays a hardman just out of prison trying to save the family pub. There's a bit more to this. 6/10

Have you seen Wild Bill? Really good , even though there's no Fairbrass in it
Wild Bill is superb. On topic though Avengement does have Fairbrass in it and while not as good as Wild Bill imo, it's still much better than most things with Fairbrass in them.

ETA: Oh my bad, you already mentioned it in the OP

Well i've just looked up his filmography and I have not seen any of his films (he was an uncredited extra in Scum but 🤷‍♀️.)

47 films and 23 tv shows and 10 computer game voice overs

And we never hear about him in the press really.

He's the James Milner of media.

What a G.

"Hi, I'm Craig Fairbrass and might know me from these films and TV programmes"

Scum
Cliffhanger (main baddie vs Sylvester Stallone)
Rise of the Footsoldier plus sequels 2-5)

Or maybe on tv in

Tuckers Luck (showing our age now)
Emmerdale
No Place Like Home
Three Up, Two Down
London Burning
Prime Suspect
The Bill
Eastenders (137 episodes!)

Or maybe as the voice of six Call Of Duty games.

One of those guys you could walk past in the street but when you see him on TV you'll go "ooh, what's he been in before?".

That’s a list of programmes I don’t watch, and films I haven’t seen, so nope.

I am tempted to watch avengement later. Which I know really is a mistake. But the name, the title is just so compellingly stupid.

That range rover shooting seems to be
the closest we get to ye olde mythmaking in real time that I've noticed. I would say that its an event that gets retold in popular culture, but it's not really popular culture. It's marginally popular culture as represented in too many remaindered geezer memoirs in discount bookshops and lottery and tax scam financed 00s films that graduate from LondonLive to Netflix.

Apparently he was often a studio dancer on Top of the Pops. I doubt if wore the same scowl then as much as he does onn screen now

Avengement is a Jesse V Johnson action movie vehicle for Scott Adkins. Fairbrass' part isn't the lead. It's not great, but it is accomplished and functions as intended. It has slightly higher aspirations than many of its ilk. It's a solid 6.

Villain, as I have not yet tired of saying, is a good movie. It tells a story, its characters do things they would in the story, and it is well made. It's not 'just' a genre geezer movie - it's about a man who strives but fails to overcome his limitations. A 7 or an 8.
