The state of politics in Scotland

That Gillian Anderson tweet is just plain odd - I don't know what she is trying to say. I do think it was inappropriate and little more than blatant objectification.

The SNP has been centre left since the 70s. The "Tartan Tory" jibe predates that, was never entirely accurate (

Sorry but it fecking IS in Angus, which is why I won't support them at local level. The SNP lost seats in the NE because the local councils went for cuts to services just before the local elections and as it turned out a general as well. I was gutted to lose Mike Weir but it's always confused the feck out of me how he got to be MP when the local councillors are self interested total wankers.

If a bloke had posted that there would have been total uproar, I am very pissed off that this has been shrugged/laughed off. I don't think either Ruth or Kez are fit to be party leaders.

Exactly - there should have been more said about it, plus she just shouldn't have done it.

Spat my coffee when I read this. Labour "championing Scottish issues"?

Labour group urges party to do more to appeal to the English

Some serious dog whistle going on there. I also wonder at the statistic cited showing 85% of people identify with "some sort of Englishness." Why don't Labour just be honest and admit a problem with appealing to certain quarters of the ethnically English/white population?

Believe it or not there are some on the Scottish Left who support the idea of the Enlgish Left using English Nationalism, ie an English Parliament, as a way of winning votes.....

The SNP's fox is shot. If Sturgeon does have the gall to have a second referendum, she will lose, and badly. I would expect that at the next GE, the SNP will be down to their usual handful of MPs, and it will be so for a decade or two. She went for it, and lost. Last GE they lost 21 seats, 12 of them to the Conservatives. Labour, I could understand, but to the Conservatives. :D:D:D:D:D I was away at the time of the election, but by chance, on switching on the BBC overseas news channel, it was Salmond's declaration. The look on his face was priceless. Fair made my holiday.
