Why not just ban Africans from every stadium

CAPE TOWN – The vuvuzela trumpet might be synonymous with South African football fans, but not everyone can stand the din and Cape Town shops report they are running out of "vuvu-stopper" earplugs.
Vuvuzelas can record noise levels of up to 130 decibels, compared to the 100 produced by a chainsaw, and it seems many people need some peace.
"I could have sold 300 pairs of earplugs yesterday if I'd had the stock, and the same today, but I've only got 200 pairs and that's just about finished," one local shopkeeper told the Weekend Argus newspaper.
"We can't keep up," said the owner, who has ordered 1,000 more.
The earplugs, marketed as the "Vuvu-Stop", have a label on the back of the packet which reads: Highly effective noise reduction. Uses include soccer, rugby, or for couch potatoes to block out your wife's moaning."
It's an African tradition you racists. Blowing tatty plastic horns is traditional.
they aren't bothering me at all
Me neither, it how the South Africans support their teams and we are in THEIR country.
Oh you're so terribly cultured! So much so that not only can you not criticise Africans from doin summat annoyin you have to actually support them! I know who I'm voting for in the most liberal middle class post award this month!Doesn't bother me in the slightest; it adds to the atmosphere, I reckons.
Fine. Do it for THEIR team an fuck off doin it for everybody else'sMe neither, it how the South Africans support their teams and we are in THEIR country.
Racist
France captain Patrice Evra has already blamed the noise generated by the vuvuzelas, which has been likened to the drone of thousands of bees, for his side's poor showing in their opening group game against Uruguay, which finished goalless.
He said: "We can't sleep at night because of the vuvuzelas. People start playing them from 6am.
"We can't hear one another out on the pitch because of them."
South Africa's World Cup organising chief Danny Jordaan may ban vuvuzelas from inside stadiums after complaints from broadcasters and supporters.
The constant sound of the high-pitched horn-like instrument has so far drowned out much of the atmosphere-generating singing usually associated with games.

The Man wants them BANNED!
Evra thinks they should be banned, good enough reason to keep them imo...
Anyone who draws comparisions between the infernal din produced by these nasty items and crowd chants must have already had their hearing affected by them and not realised.
If thats what the tournament hosts want to play at their teams matches I dont see the problem, or even at the other African nations. Though the vuvuzela isnt a traditional African instrument, but a recent development exclusive to South Africa, which is disliked by many people there and ear plugs make a roaring trade. The players dont like it. Fans dont like it. But it seems FIFA in a cynical attempt to create noise, have enoucraged them and the most of the sheep like herd in the media are pretending it isnt an issue.
I always thought one of the most basic criteria to host any international sporting tournament was you had to be accodommating to your guests, but here its the other way round and its interesting isnt it that for the first time (though hardly anyone noticed) the hosts ,and not the defending champions, started proceedings. Thats because this is a political event, with the football a secondary concern.
you forgot your [cynic] [/cynic] tags
Vuvuzelas have been controversial. They have been associated with permanent noise-induced hearing loss, cited as a possible safety risk when spectators can't hear evacuation announcements, and potentially spread colds and flu germs on a greater scale than coughing or shouting. Commentators have described the sound as "annoying" and compared it with "a stampede of noisy elephants," "a deafening swarm of locusts," "a goat on the way to slaughter" and "a giant hive full of very angry bees."
The sound level of the instrument has been measured at 131 dB(A) at the opening of the horn and at 113 dB(A) two metres in front of the opening, both dangerously high levels for unprotected ears
