This is one of my favourite summer walks, starting from Kew Bridge statin (served by trains from Waterloo) and running along the banks of the River Thames as far as Richmond. It's an easy 5.6km / 3.5mile route which is flat all the way. Crossing the river at Kew Bridge to access the Thames Path

Although I don't think I'd recommend drinking the water from either river.

Fantastic, but it doesn't seem normal for a dolphin to be that far up the river. Hope it's ok.

Well obviously it gets shitter (literally) the further along the river you are, but there are sewage outflows into the Thames long before you get to Richmond.

We had the same issues here during the boat race this year, iirc people were getting ill from contact with the river water and the levels of e.coli detected in it meant people were warned not to practice in the river itself.Cleaner than Paris' Seine:

(I mean I have kind of limited sympathy with the posh twats involved, but we do have the exact same issues with the Thames here).
I also actually do test the river water myself as part of my environmental/citizen science volunteering, and can confirm that it is the same here.

As a follow on from my above posts, Thames Water are likely to be fined over £100 million for dumping sewage into waterways in the region.
They will no doubt try to convince the ombudsman to pass this cost on to us customers.

There was someone on the radio who said I think the maximum fine is limited to 10% of income or thereabouts.
