The one-week iQueue. The saddest fanboys of the lot

Looks like the carefully concocted iHype isn't quite working this time around.
I was in New York City today so I thought I'd stop by the Apple store on 5th Avenue and look at the line. Here's a picture. Well, there were more press people there than people waiting on line. What the press, and blogs, haven't told you is that the waiting line in New York is really tiny compared to what it was for the original iPhone. I saw that original line and there simply is no comparison at all

Safari is quite a good browser and actually displays the pages well with that clever zooming panning thing, sans flash.

If it had Flash it would be too good for mere mortals.

I bet Jobs has one with Flash.

8 x 8gb and 3 x 16gb.

There were 15 people in front of me so I'm now 7th in the car phone warehouse queue. Opens @ 9.

Nearly 50 people outside the o2 store on Streatham High St by 8am. Only 8 16GB, 25 8GB. 20 or so people outside the Carphone Warehouse next door. Didn't bother. Will wait for my processing order to be cancelled / restocked / sold out again etc etc

2 x 8gb at town centre Car Phone Warehouse.

10 phones at retail park I was told.

So an hour queueing and no Jesus phone for me.
Guess I should have got in queue a week ago.

There were about 15 outside Brixton carphone warehouse when I rode past.

I'll bet good money that the chosen few didn't have to endure a single whoop or high 5

There was certainly no whooping at Merthyr.

In the whole of Merthyr there were 3 x 16gb phones. Which is pathetic.

Car Phone Warehouse said that they could direct order for next day delivery or pick up at store.

There computer said that there were 199 available for local but when they tried to order them it wouldn't let them. They phoned the sales office who said that there were 0 x 16gb. At which point i walked off whilst people ordered their 8gb phones.

I'm prepared to wait, others weren't. Hope they find 8gb enough.

Although i didn't bond with my phone I did have laugh with the two queues I was in and bonded with them. So it wasn't exactly an awfull morning I feel I should say.

I've still not had a reply from O2 as to whether they've processed any orders and will take any money from me or not. Top class. No phone, of course.

I'm not going to a shop to try and get one. I walked past a CPW at 0920 this morning and they were busy telling disappointed looking people that there weren't any.

Typically, my iPod has had a spasm this morning, and isn't responding to the normal reset method. Grrr.

Blatantly a conspiracy to make you purchase a hype-phone. :D

Yeah, that's what I thought...

Whilst I slept last night, a (non-whooping in this instance, obviously) covert Apple employee snuck into my house and tampered with my iPod, in order to prevent me changing my mind and going for another sort of phone!

:D

Proving slightly more popular than the 1st one.

Shame they didn't make enough. Can anyone see the point of an 8Gb model? I would actually prefer a 32 or 64Gb version.

16 will be plenty for me. What the heck do you need 64 for?

With demand this high, I can't see restocking being a quick process...

Demand wasn't really high. Supply was really low though. Bad launch.

When a O2 store can only satisfy the first 11 customers out of a queue of 25 thats pants. They should have had stock for a day's trading not half hour of trading.

That ridiculous name sums up all that is wrong with this ludicrously hyped handset.

I think whoever first called it the Jesus phone was having a pop.

It's backfired as people like me find the name cute in it's sarcastic overhyped way.

I always thought the "Jesus Phone" thing was a both a reference to the hype, but also a sort of nod that from some points of view, at least, Jesus came to a rather sticky end (maybe)...
