The Malvern Hills

I've just received A visitor's guide to Ledbury. Advertising on it are school uniform suppliers, tax advisors, butchers etc. Just what's required for a nice break away. Alas, It looks like the only people missing are undertakers.

There's a kebab gaff, they'll do the necessary.

Eastnor Castle or not? It is just 2.5 miles from where we are staying ( will probably go to Sudeley on the way day, a handy pee stop if nothing else.

Probably wouldn't bother. Rather steep, and full of tat.

No dungeons.

We started up at British Camp and went up to hangman's hill and swinyard hill. Quickly went to pay our respects at St Wulstan's. Then we moved up to Wyche for Worcester beacon, dropped down to St Ann's Well and back to Wyche. Much preferred hangman's hill area, more rural, remote and quieter, barring the jet fighter that flew over. A superb day.

...more rural, remote and quieter, barring the jet fighter that flew over.

One evening a few years ago, dusk, I was walking on the hills and - looking down - saw the flashing lights of what I assumed was an ambulance.

I thought, "Christ almighty, he's driving bloody fast!"

Then I realised it was the (navigation?) light on top of a military jet flying at low altitude...

 :D

Have just hit the nags head in Malvern and no driving involved 👍 great freehouse with many ales.
So many great independent shops around here. An abundance of bookshops but no record shops. Ledbury folk are rightly very proud of ledbury.
Malvern must have one of the prettiest stations and prettiest spoons every ( I walked passed it ).

My folks stay at the spoons in Malvern when they go to the theatre there. It's proper swanky - massive, Georgian style rooms with huge bay windows looking out over the vale of Evesham and out to the Cotswolds...

The wife and I occasionally go for breakfast there on a Sunday morning.

It is indeed quite a building.

Ashamed to admit I've never actually been in there :(

Have driven past it hundreds of times, too.

Some of those springs are extremely handy in hot weather.

Over the years Ellie, Dina, Bracken and Lily have used them to cooled themselves down and slake their thirst.

Favourites are Westminster Bank Spring, St Ann's Well, and Eye Well. The latter is simply a large puddle under the exposed roots of a tree. A perfect pool in which to have a doggy dip 👍

Not sure what constitutes a well in this instance. We did see a couple of areas where water was flowing into an area with bricks around it. Ann's Well cafe was very average. My favourite was the clock tower in West Malvern on the way to the brewers.
