Yeah, cancellation team. It is in the terms and conditions, but it's still shit. It's a business contract so even worse then domestic terms.
If you are out of contract, then you are surely no longer bound by its terms? In your shoes, I'd probably be cancelling the direct debit and inviting them to "come at me, bro". Worked for me with Sky, quite a few years ago.
I'm not sure I've got the will for the fight and risk to my credit score. I asked them to provide me with a signed copy which they were able to, but of course it's a many page document. Their actual internet isn't terrible so probably easier to wait it out.
