The dog thread is better than the cat thread, because it features dogs.

The woman who looked after Cosmo before me was old-school and fancied herself as a dog expert (we were walking the dogs in the valley one time and a woman we met asked me if I was the dog expert she'd heard about. Both of us simultaneously said "no" :D ).

Cosmo was liable to attack dogs in narrow pathways. Her looker-afterer told me that she used to tap her with the side of her foot when a new dog was coming to keep her under control. I realized afterwards that she actually used to kick her. Another time she said that Cosmo had quite a high pain threshold. I realized afterwards that she used to kick her quite hard. So, whenever Cosmo met another dog on a path not only was she stressed because she didn't know what to do with this new dog but her looker-afterer started kicking her

Dear god that's sickening - not just that it is horrific to be violent towards a tame/domestic animal (I specify tame because I'd probably make an exception if a wild bear was coming at me and I was armed, but in terms of domestic pets/working animals I mean), but trust is so important, no wonder she was afraid in that situation.

Has anyone used CBD with their dogs? Considering it ahead of firework season but don't really know where to start. I just buy weed off a dealer :D

While I very much do not like the fox shit clean up, I do prefer mungo without a collar. My old dog Vinn (blue and white greyhound) looked particularly handsome in his collar, it enhanced his beauty. Mungo looks better without one. He has two collars plus about six old/ spare ones, in case of two shit rolls on one day.

I haven’t tried it but someone suggested it for Humphrey too. The Xanax didn’t really work last year.

I do very much envy you having a dog and a cat that live and travel together comfortably. And they both look like they’re having a great holiday. Hope you are too.
Ta! It’s been just what we needed, I must say. Really relaxing. Ted loves the fact that we’re always off walking (and Boo sleeps 20 hours a day so doesn’t much notice we’re gone, so long as he sees us every now and then!)

. . . It was a breed I'd heard of before but never seen in the flesh, a Cane Corso . . .
Having just googled to see what one looks like . . . bloody hell . . . small, they ain't . . . even better without the snipped ears, why do people do this

Got home from work and let dog out whereupon he disappeared for a while and then came in and onto the sofa with a dead rabbit. Shouted at him so he ran back out into the dark. Wandered around outside for a bit with said rabbit wondering where I could throw it so he wouldn’t be able to find it again (he obvs lurking in the gloaming watching me). Flung it over next doors way, came back in and have been sitting waiting for his return. Finally after what feels like an hour but was probably only 10 minutes, he’s back in

He was bringing you a gift.
Is he a lurcher cross?

Kails usual groomer is off on long term sick and has just advised everyone to make alternative arrangements for the time being.

I need a mobile dog groomer or one that picks up n drops off. I don't mind paying a premium for that, spoiling Kail is worth it.

I rang one place this morning and I'm beyond annoyed. Their website looks fabulous, they do all I need and even better they offer a pamper day where they pick up your dog, drop him off and in between he gets long countryside walks, a full groom and dinner etc. It really does look like a dog spa. Proper luxury innit.

So I thought I'd have some of that for Kail and rang them. Everything went well until they asked what breed Kail is. When I said he was an American Staffordshire, the dog place said they wouldn't take him as a client. I asked why and they just said it was their policy, no further explanation.

Proper pissed off now. I get it's their business and they can take whatever dogs they wish but FFS, I would have paid whatever to spoil Kail and now I can't.

Stick a couple of false ears on him and say he's a beagle.

I found a mobile dog groomer (I do find that a strange and slightly disturbing term) and she's put me on her waiting list. There may be others in your area?
