The Book of Boba Fett

What did Luke do for rest breaks to and from dagobar? He was in that thing for four weeks each way. Using the force isn't going to be enough to change the laws of those physics.

not just being contrary but that was my biggest groanfest episode - its all just too silly.
too many eye rolling moments for me - stand out was the mandalorian reunion which played like the judeans peoples front conference...three straglers and they kick off at each other!! mandalorianism is finally shown to be utterly stupid and hopefully it will die out with those last two twats. take your stupid helmets off once in a while you fanatics!

i prefer slow paced stoic italian western vibes to all these trembling droids and jawa sex shenanigans

i did like the abattoir grunts though...they need their own spin off series

Brotherhood, solidarity, loyalty. This is the way.

Two minutes later...

Let's fight to the death for this maguffin.

Some proper clangy writing in that. Amy Sedaris seemed to have been told to just make shit up on the spot.

Nah, it was established in those two minutes that the darksabre hadn't been won legit by Mando so it was fair game to have a scrap about.

Well that was brilliant but clearly someone has fucked up and put the Mandalorian S03E01 tape in the Boba Fett S01E05 box and not realised their mistake.

Yeh I thought that. It was a cut above the other episodes. Because it was basically the Mandalorian.

Also, another point. Do they actually tell actors in star wars movies/series to act so woodenly? It's almost comical sometimes how bad they are.

Faster, more intense.

One thing we learnt this week is that the whole mess of the empire, order 66 and even darth vader himself

could of been avoid if Qui Gon had just talk to some bloody Jawas

:hmm:

Really, really liked that episode.

I don’t want to sound all pseuds corner but you can really see them building of a detailed and coherent single universe from the first six films, Mando and this and I am all for that.

It’s really refreshing to see this taking place where you get such an impression of what’s going on affecting the overall story of the universe, not just (as Wandavision did) restricting it to the show itself.

It was also agreeably dark, all the way from the frogs, via Cobb to the choice at the end.[\spoiler]

so the last 3 episodes of the book are about mando
after such world building its a bit of shame mid season bail out

ok enjoyed it but one episode left :hmm:

also Cad Bane :D

I was initially disappointed to see Luke again. I felt his cameo appearance at the end of Mando S2 was as much as we should see of major legacy characters. But by the end of the episode it felt that his presence wasn’t a gratuitous bit of fan service, but that he’ll be playing a necessary role in the evolving storyline, so I’m okay with it.

The bit below regards Grogu’s future and is speculative, but potentially a future spoiler, so stop reading if you don’t want to risk my being right and spoiling things for you.

The location where Luke and Grogu are is clearly the ‘Jedi academy’ that Kylo Ren destroys later on, as told in The Last Jedi. Ren is said to kill all the Jedi students in the process, so the final scene in this episode felt like a life-or-death choice for Grogu. If he decides to stay, will he be one of the younglings slaughtered when Ren goes postal?

I am choosing to believe that even if Grogu stays, he will not be there or somehow survive the event though.

The creators have suggested that we should think of The Book of Boba Fett as The Mandalorian series 2.5. So, I'm sure the end of this is going to bleed into series 3 of The Mandalorian

Impressive CGI...or amazing wig on Mark
I was just coming here to comment on this. And I’ve just checked IMDB and Hamill is listed as appearing in the episode. I’m pretty sure the physical side of his character was played by someone else- probably the younger X-wing pilot from the previous episode, who was the body of Luke in the Mandalorian S2 finale. So that must mean Hamill was the voice.

For whatever reason, the voice sounded more like someone impersonating Hamill than the man himself. Not surprising in a way, as most people’s voice changes over the decades. Still, if felt like James Earl Jones voicing Vader in Rogue One. In a way you couldn’t have it any other way if the actor is still alive and willing, but Earl Jones sounded less Vader-like than plenty of of talented voice actors would have likely managed.

all i know is i couldnt tell the difference and im alergic to cgi - seems we are now in a post Disneycorp reality where actors no longer necessary world
i for one hate our hate our new mickey mouse overlords

Well that was awesome but have we given up on Boba Fett now, Morrison had like 3 lines of dialogue in the whole show

But is that a bad thing? Up until two episodes ago most of the criticisms of the series could be summed up as ‘this is no Mandalorian level stuff’. If the episodes had been filmed weekly at the present time you could accuse the writers of moving the goalposts after getting mixed reviews of the early episodes. But this was all filmed months ago. It’s almost if they’d predicted some of the reactions to the early episodes and threw a curveball by suddenly (but quite intentionally) parachuted in what was in effect episode 1 of the third Mandalorian season as episode 5 of Boba Fett, and then gave us a hybrid that quite deftly merges the two series, when you think about it.

If the latest episodes had been a reaction to reviews of the early part of the series you could dismiss them as a reactive attempt to improve the ratings based on the initial reception. But this was all preplanned. I for one think it’s devilishly clever.

In pretty sure I remember they hired the person who made the deepfake video showing how bad their earlier attempt was.
I found article explaining what they'd done to get 'Luke' in the show

Would they be brave enough to reset the timeline on eps 7-9?

Marvel do it all the time

Or would Grogu somehow survive? Or not?
