telephone interviews

anyone got any tips? it's only meant to be 15 minutes... for a vacation scheme. but i have never had a telephone interview (or even an interview in ages :( ) and any tips would be most appreciated! TIA :)

I used to conduct them and always pitied the people who insisted they had time/quiet etc when they clearly underestimated how much the kid would get in the way or the door would go etc. So make time and space and quiet for it.

^^ land line
tv, mobile, doorbell on mute. windows closed. kids & pets silenced
coffee, water lined up
thier website open
google open

I had one yesterday.... it went okay.

tips are the same as for usual interviews.... and have some questions to ask about the company/the position/the remuneration package....

GOOD LUCK!

w00p w00p!

is critical thinking the same as verbal reasoning? :hmm:

i don't know!

except a post on education&employment asking this very question soon :D

if they said they were passing my application on to the partners and i'd get a critical thinking test tomorrow, does that mean i passed the interview?! :hmm: or would they say that to everyone?

I reckon that means you passed! They'll have to pay for the critical thinking test and partners won't want to look at any old dumbo's application!

What kind of firm is it?

eek - hope so, as another rejection letter arrived in the post today! i've officially given up on human rights law...

this one's boring corporate law...

a bit of me has sold out, but a big part of me doesn't give a shit :hmm:

a bit of me has sold out, but a big part of me doesn't give a shit :hmm:

this is kind of how I feel.... although it was family law initially and I feel a little bit sell out but also that commercial will actually be more varied / less frustrating.

:hmm:

anyway, only you know whether you've done all you can and it's time to move on or whether you should keep going for human rights as well as corporate.

do you do human rights pro bono?
