Streatham Night Wolves ice hockey game at the Brixton Ice Rink

I went along to see an ice hockey match at the Brixton ice rink on Friday night and had a heap of fun. I'm definitely fancying seeing another game there.

My Son plays for the under 16s. They have some good games and it's free to go watch them at home in Brixton.

I hate sport, but do get into it.

The Redskins site has a full fixtures listing (they are a semi-pro team so charge for tickets) but the other two team websites are vague - details sometimes on Facebook.

Streatham Ice Hockey Team is one of the oldest in Britain still around. They started in the 30s. They've been the Redskins since the 70s. Were big in the 80s where they played at National League level but since then have been playing at Amatuer level.

They don't get much funding, especially the younger teams. All sponsorhsip and support very welcome I'm sure.

Perhaps some of those fancy pants gentrifiers might wanna put their hands in their pockets.......

My dad used to take me to Redskins games as a kid. Richmond Flyers too. Big ice hockey nut, my dad, written a couple of books on the subject.

Sorry. There was some jobsworth (official rather than councillor IIRC?) who nearly nixed a grant bid by one of the youth teams by suggesting that this might be an issue a decade or so ago.
