A shed is being put up by my 80yr old dad and 2 of his equally elderly pals.
They're making the frame and buying cladding. Getting a second hand door and 2 windows.

The cladding comes in lots of colours. And I don't know which to go for.
So I was thinking pale grey as initially I thought it would sort of hide the shed against the wall but I was looking online and saw that a black shed will disappear in a garden.

It's a big enough shed and really it will also be a workshop. It's 15feet wide and 10ft deep and will have a slight gradient on the flattish roof.

I don't want it to look like it dropped out of the sky. And I'd like to hide the exposed right hand side with plants etc. Back and left side are close to walls. So the front will be the only part visible eventually.

Which colour would you go for?

Thanks :)

Seagrass green outside with jasmine highlights on the window frames and roof edge boards.
Interior jasmine to make it brighter.
That’s the instructions I’ve been given to get sorted before autumn.

What's the cladding made of? Is it timber or something else which will need re-painting in the future, or is it plastic?

Well why did you give us that option? I hope you are not going to ignore urban's choice. :hmm:

Come back & vote, brown needs to win now.

It came with the samples but it would not be my favourite.
I like the grey and the black and green.

I just wanted advice on which colour might make a shed look a bit less imposing. The garden isnt very big so I dont want it to dominate and thought coliur choice might be a factor in making it look smaller.

Its not timber .. not quite sure what it is . PVC? It doesnt need painting.
OK, I was going to say if it would need re-painting in future to pick a colour it will be easy to match, but if that's not an issue then pick whatever colour you fancy.

Personally I'd go for dark brown, but I'm a bit of a traditionalist.

Black - I know you cannot get creosote anymore but black timber is a very typical look in E.Anglia and one I love.
I would chop my thumbs off with blunt loppers before painting one blue, purple, sage, dove, terracotta or indeed, any of the ghastly Cuprinol/Ronseal/Sadolin garden timber colours.

I love that black shed up the page a bit. Let's be clear though, once we start discussing colours and how to decorate it, we've moved on a step or several from thinking of it as somewhere to store your lawnmower - it's getting into the territory of being a "space" in your garden (quotation marks intentional, and if you were standing in front of me I would do air quotes). We're more "Love it or List it" than "Gardeners Question Time" at this point. ;) :D

That's ok. It's not really going to be a garden shed for the lawnmower.
It's going to be a workshop/studio type thing with a bit of garden tool storage.
Eventually it will be just a studio workshop.
