Shared house in Bristol - wanted

Idaho

blah blah blah
A friend of mine is having a hard time finding a room in a shared house. There seems to be a real shortage of places, and those that do exist tend to be short term student lets or places specifying younger people (she's in her 40s). I thought I'd ask on here on her behalf as a long shot :)

Has she tried Spare room? Mdk1 is looking and there seems to be loads on there. Although it is the worst time possible to be looking because of the start of Uni etc.

Also someone told me about an alternative house share in Bristol group on FB. I'm not on it so can't be more directive.

Yeah I'm sure she's trawled all the usual sites frequently :)

Generally the housing shortage is particularly acute in the South west. I know that it's very hard to find places in Exeter -and I really pity working people in Cornwall trying to find a rental place with so much rental stock chasing 3 times the money via air BnB.

With spare room I'm pretty sure she could put up her own advert looking for something. I'm sure there are people who want a lodger or someone to share with who is older. Nothing to lose by doing so?

I’d use spare room, that’s how I found my lodgers. I tended to go for PhD students to keep my council tax discount, then M-F working people to have the place for myself at the weekend.

I was happy for older people than myself as I like my home to be quiet and a bit of a sanctuary. I’m sure there are similar people in Bristol.

Facebook group called "Bristol Rooms For Alternative People" is good. Loads of members on there and regular posts. Also the price must be under 500 I think.
