I gave no idea how to get to Sydenham mind.

From Brixton/Herne Hill you can get the train to Sydenham Hill and a bus from there.

Edit actually it looks easier to get the bus from Penge East.

I actually now live right by Sydenham Hill station and still have never made it to Sydenham in recent memory. Train carries me to Brixton in 10 mins door to door, so my habits haven't really changed.

If I can convince Numbers and PTG out I may well brave a visit to the wilds of the SE. Will bring bribes of homemade pepper sauce, from the hot to nuclear, to try and tempt the old boys out.

In that case it's probably no more than a 30 minute walk from yours. Bring the old boys out! It's not every day they get the opportunity I gather

I'd get the 3 up to Crystal Palace Parade then there's a couple down the other side from there (202 and 450 i think).

But yeah Sydenham Hill isn't really close or convenient to Sydenham.

Depends on your luck with buses and tolerance for hills. Up the path opposite the station and then down Wells Park road/Kirkdale would be the quickest and take about 25 mins I think.

450 goes past kingswood estate every 20 minutes and drops you at the dolphin. Up and down hill in one bus.

It's nowhere near Sydenham Hill.. Sydenham is closer or even Lower Sydenham.. but it's a bus destination really..

my Dad just asked if we'd do his 70th there (The Dolphin)... his 2nd 70th.. his first is in Lee in his local...

And Crystal Palace has an odd effect on bus services - until only a few years ago, every bus route that went there terminated there, no buses crossed the Crystal Palace Parade terminus. Not sure why...
