Saw that tacky statue in St Pancras the other day

They should have done a scene from Brief Encounter.

Christ - now I am starting to warm to it. I believe that it's good to have something from now - why are we always looking back? Who can tell what's going to classic and amazing in 50 years time?

The people who can spot the difference between something that's ahead of its time and something that's just banal.

Hmm, I should have stayed on the side of the cynics. it's always the winning side <shakesheadatself>

Something from the 40s would probably work better I think.

Yep, 40s would have been great.

The only good thing about seeing it close up is you actually see less of it, oddly.

Can't help thinking that those heels are going to date as well

The station itself though is noting short of spectacular. Even the school bench / Champagne Bar transforms your perception of what a train station is.

More pics over HERE.

The more I look at it the more hideous it gets. The only thing good thing I can say about it is that it is strangely compelling. Like staring at a car crash.

It actually makes me feel physically ill.

The same sculptor perpetrated the atrocious "Biggles strides again" Battle of Britain Memorial at Victoria Embankment

The bandwagon of cynicism, don't you love it? ;) (I can't say I do)

Some good pics on your blog Tricky Skills, I really like this one:

I quite like it from the pics, but I wish it was at ground level so we could get a look at it, but I suppose they put it up so that we don't vandalise it!!
