His family just announced his death, aged 89. A cheesy ham of an actor, for the most part, and there's nothing wrong with that.

He had a good sense of humour. I remember watching an audience with Ustinov in Germany where Roger Moore was in the audience and very effectively played the fall guy to one of Ustinov's jokes. They were both passionate UNICEF supporters.

He wasn't my favourite Bond but I loved the Persuaders series he did with Tony Curtis - they were a good foil for each other.

He was very self deprecating and always played every part tongue in cheek. Though personally I think his best film was without a doubt, The Man Who Haunted Himself.
Cracking film.

He was great - he made Bond movies more fun, adding a much needed humour to the part. Even his name was apt for the Bond part.
