RIP Jesus

MrSki

Who am I to say you're wrong
Those of a certain age will remember Jesus from early festivals, often naked or dressed in purple. May he rest in the festival in the sky. RIP

sad news, Jesus has passed away .
just heard this from his brother Eric.
William Jellett was born on the 6 th June 1948 Poole Dorset the youngest of 4 children I am his brother and the eldest.I have not seen him for quite a while but one of my sisters has remained in contact with him.
He has always remained in the London area but over the last few years he has not enjoyed the best of health, recently the decline was rapid.
Last Friday my sister phoned to tell me that at 1 o clock that morning the 8th January 2021 William died peacefully in his sleep in a London hospital. Hope this clears up some of the confusion as who he was.

In 1971 when I was still at school I went to a benefit for the OZ magazine trial held in the Covent Garden basement that had previously been occupied by Middle Earth. There was some delay getting out of Covent Garden tube and while we were waiting I had a brief conversation with him. All I can recall is him saying something about how he'd some kind of epiphany watching Pink Floyd. Egg (referred to in that article Pickman's model linked to) were among those performing that night. Often saw him at gigs during the '70s particularly at the Roundhouse. Never got a sense of anything to be wary of or concerned about, and I don't ever recall seeing people getting annoyed with him, neither of which was the case with some other scene 'characters'. He seemed harmless and happy enough, and I guess 'genuine' maybe isn't the right word but he seemed to be what he was if that makes any sense.

Lurdan you probably know my partner (she's older than me). When I asked her where she knew him from she said "He was everywhere, Roundhouse, Hyde Park, every festival."

Love Dumpy flicking the V's in the background there :)

Never heard of this Jesus fellah but he seems to have been to some bloody good gigs in his time. I'm quite jealous. Looks like he'd give Bez et al a fkn good run for their money too - maracas or none!

Rest in Peace

There's another thread on here where I said this, but remember him from the early 1980s at Marquee gigs and later at Pilton, as we called it back then. Always with maracas, always appearing to have a great time.
