The violence happened during a protest over the burning of the Koran in a US church last month.

In my neighbourhood, there are depressingly many mosques and depressingly many women wearing niqabs. Among the various mosques is one that used to be a pub. That is particularly hurtful! What would happen if the news media showed the burning of the Koran and then a mob went and beheaded more people?

The Americans and the Afghans are so primitive they're made for each other. The Afghans have 30 years of fighting, closed schools and poverty as a justification. I don't know how to explain the Americans.

You'd think if the Pastor was that keen on proselytizing he'd pop over to Afghanistan/any other middle eastern country and give it his best shot.

Having worked for the UN in Afghanistan (and resigned due to slack security) I can see they expected their name, flag and good work to protect them, rather than having decent beefed up security. Which may be perceived as "Not making progress" or " Not having the population onside"

Its a dreadful thing to happen and no doubt it will slow down their operations considerably, if they don't actually pull out of areas.
