Recommend a compassionate dentist

Didn't VP try Southside? <snip>
No. The thing about M.E. is that you can go for years without being well enough to get to more than essential stuff. :( Bad teeth are far less essential than memory clinic appts, mediaction reviews (without which the surgery stops prescriptions dead) etc.
Maybe call them?
CBA today, too tired, also snotted up. Tomorrow. Definitely.

Why don't you try them then? Or do you prefer Blue for some reason?

Epilogue: Went to the dentist by Streatham Common station, seeing as they'd got rave reviews for not just efficiency etc but also good chairside manner. Not bad for a quick fix, but still considering somewhere nearer (ie not 2 buses away) in the long term.

Dental Solutions on Brixton Hill, near corner of Holmewood Gardens. Very good, as mentioned earlier on this thread.

Mine were ace, I went to a special one for special work to be done, he was happy to pump my veins full of valium

Luton though

Glad that worked for you. IV valium not an option for me anyway - can't drag VP along.

I went to Blue today and they were fine - better than Half Moon Dental Practice which has removed me from their NHS patient list.

And for it's only £50 for a check-up (which includes a full clean and polish - which I never got a Half Moon) plus two fillings and a root canal treatment. So looking forward to that next week. :(

I was a bit :hmm: to see a poster for Botox there though!

Update - something else right at the front needs fixing (it keeps trying to fall out, can just about push it back with my tongue, and I'm too chicken to check before getting an appointment). I could really do without this happening this week.

Rushy that was neither funny, nor relevant, nor supportive. I know we've had our differences, but I could do with you not taking the piss here. :(

Sorry. Certainly not aimed at you and no offence intended. The "compassionate dentist" title simply reminded me of something I heard on R4 Moral Maze this morning (mentioned this photo of Trafalgar Square lions). Not sure what point you thought I was trying to make by linking you and Cecil but sorry it came across that way. I hope you recover from your ailment soon. Sorry again.

And so the funfilled ring round begins again - the place I went to in October has lost my records. I know I filled the forms in, and handed over the relevant paperwork, but now, nothing. FFS! Once of the hazards of being a pov with common first name and common surname, I suppose.

Understood.

Not so much an ailment as trying to get what will be a very noticeable gap fixed, before the tooth comes out and gets swallowed or lost on the floor etc. And that, in spite of bricking it because of previous bad treatment. At least no pain, thank fuck.

Being charge exempt is a mixed blessing. I know the paperwork's a pain in the arse, but do dentists seriously think that making it so bloody difficult to get work done is going to make me any cheaper to treat in the long run?

Just to add, I travel all the way from surrey, to summerstown dental in tooting because they're so good.

I don't think they do any NHS though.

I didn't have a great experience with the dentist I saw at Blue, who is Israeli I think. He did a root canal which was still causing me pain after he filled it - meaning there was still some nerve in it. And he knew there was, because I flinched when he poked around in the tooth. To be fair, he did try twice to find it.

So I have had to pay hundreds of pounds to a private specialist, who said only two of the four canals had been cleaned out. On the plus side, I am now pain-free for the first time in months. :)
