Recommend a compassionate dentist

So, I hate, loathe and fear going to the dentist, always have, always will!
A month ago a tooth broke off, leaving the root in. I went to my dentist practice and was seen by a 12 year old who was very judgemental (my teeth are pretty awful) and unhelpful but above all he was not compassionate at all.

So, I have to wait until August to have the root taken out! He offered to 'try' to extract the tooth but sent me to King's when I decided that 'trying' might not be for me.

So, has anyone got a kind dentist in Brixton/Stockwell?

Blue Dental Care were kind to me

This - I HATE dentists, but they are lovely and talk you through everything. When i went I hadn't been for over 10 years and weren';t judgemental in the slightest. They also don't try and rip you off by doing work you don't actually need.

They're just opposite Brixton Academy.

Thanks very much all have two very good leads.
Bioboy - he may actually have been about 20 something - too young to remember dentists when they were pyscho-sadist-butchers!

Seriously, they are the best (not Harley St) place I have ever been too in my life. Get down there, explain your worries and you will be okay.

I got a LOT of overdue work done over two visits for £94. Got to split the bill (a bit) too to help out.

Thanks BH just looked at the site but they don't seem to be NHS I can't afford private - need a lot of work!

AFAIK they don't take on new NHS patients, except for children, but they do have a private price list which is priced competitively with NHS work. (it's on their website).
They are quite friendly & I'm sure would explain it better than I have.

eta: My daughter goes to Half Moon (easier to get to) & they've been great, I've stuck with Blue & wouldn't change, they really are lovely.

Judgemental dentists, yep, sounds familiar. I had a massive argument with an arrogant twat who had the nerve to have a go at us because my son's teeth hadn't been brushed before getting there (we came straight from school). He also lectured me every fucking time because of my gum disease, thus putting me off from going back.

My teeth are far from straight (why the heck didn't they take my wisdom teeth out, there just wasn't enough space) and I've had gum disease for as long as I remember, no matter what I do! Finally a decent female, non judgemental and fully grown dentist, in my last visit, said it can be hereditary and also my teeth are just harder to clean. Turns out the twat has left the practice, no doubt because people must have complained about his appalling manners.

Before that the other twat kept telling me off, despite me brushing my teeth twice a day, flossing in the evening + mouth wash!

My dentist is in Tooting, so sorry I can't help, but don't be shy about complaining about yours.

Pavillion on Brighton Terrace has always been great with me although I've never had to have anything major done. My old Mum fell over a concrete block outside a supermarket whilst here on holiday and knocked her front teeth out and Pavillion really looked after her. She was very impressed. (Not to be cofused with the doctor's surgery there which was dreadful but is under new management I think.)

I would not recommend Pavillion AT ALL. Pretty sure other people off here have had a bad time there too.

I am with Blue Dental Care now and they are very good.

Yep, there's definitely at least one other urb who had an awful time with them. I'm with the GP practice but didn't go with the dentist on the basis of what she'd said to me. Whereas Blue are ace :)

Which reminds me I really need to book an appointment...

Do blue dental care see you at short notice? Got gum disease that's really bloody painful. I'm about to rip my head off :( If I called then in the morning do ya think they'd see me?

Did for me. Told me to turn up first thing and wait. Had me done by 11:30am IIRC.

When I first signed up I got an appt within 48 hours and it wasn't emergency, so yes, give em a call :)

Dr Patel at the Pavilion surgery on Brighton Terrace is lovely. She gave me an injection for a v small filling because I was dwelling on Marathon Man.

I'm a dentist hater, too, but when I chipped a fronty recently I buckled down and went to Blue Dental Care, as recommended by many here. So far so good. Neglect has taken its toll on my mouth, and the bill's going to be close to £200 on the NHS, but I've nothing but good things to say about them.

Well even though Blue dental care has been so highly recomended, I still put it off. My fear of dentists being so great.
But after a night of absolute agony, I can't put it off any more. So, I'll be on the phone 9-30 when they open. Wish me luck. I'm cacking myself.
