Prince of Wales Pub, Brixton closes (and reopens)

Appears to have been closed down - according to notice on door on Thursday. Whilst I read the notice 5p Man walked past and said it was the best club in town and then asked me for 5p. (I've never seen him in there though).

Slide club night on Saturday has also been moved from Dex to Dogstar which presumably means the Dex has gone too.

I saw a repossession notice (or something similar) on the small bit the other side of the yard, next to Joy, but I thought it was just for that bit.

Hopefully when it re-opens it'll still be a pub. Not really bothered about Dex re-opening as the same sort of place- should have been more accessible imo.

Did the cost of running Dex drag the pub down, then?

It was certainly an unexpected close down: there were nights booked at Dex over the weekend (the promoters had to stick notices on the door telling folks that the party had moved) and you can still see the Halloween decorations in the pub window.

Anyone know what is happening with this? Even more gutting was two days before it closed we won £50 of drink vouchers in a pub quiz!!!!:mad:

I hope that it remains as a drinking establishment. Be nice if it was more pub than bar, too.

He's called bramwell, I always give him some money when i see him. Sometimes he shouts 'A penny, a penny' too.

He's a well known Brixton character who shouts "5p!" at anyone in the vicinity while thrusting his hand firmly in their direction.

are you sure you don't mean 2p man?
his rate went up tenfold sometime last year to 20p.
Be aware that if you do give him some money he'll hug and kiss you...
/me shivers at the memory

How long has that MASSIVE weathervane/cock been on top of DEX? Noticed it today.

Going back to an earlier comment, here's a pic of 'Bramwell', one of our most famous street people. He was so pleased when I took this picture he tried to kiss me!

Looks like it's outside the Old White Horse I think

(or one of those big houses that's been done up in the last few years)
