Just seemed strange to me that out of all the countries in the UK, the only country apart from England which elects to use the British National Anthem as their footy anthem is the only team for which the players were not required to hold a British passport for their trip to France. As you know. Unlike the rest of the players from England, Wales or Scotland, when they go anywhere foreign to represent their country.
Given the reason for this, it seems like choosing that particular song as your football anthem must have been designed to potentially needle and alienate some of their prospective fan base, is all. Football is a tribal game, after all.
