Was just listening to Fighting talk on R5L and this was one of the questions.

Couple of the answers were

Cech
Ronaldo

I suppose you could add every French player including Thierry Va-Va-Voom but he was arguably finished anyway.

Any others who came in with a load of hype and now have to go home and pick up the pieces?

And also Scholari isn't exactly coming into the Premiership in a blaze of glory. Instead he's coming in with a clown of a right back called Boswinga.

Modric has been class bosingwa looks good as well. but he will be shit though.

Okay lets see. Makele, thuram, cech, Ronaldo, toni, benzemma(or whatever the frecnh lyon strikers name is).

:D
He'll get skinned by any team with a good left winger. I'm looking forward to a couple of Petrov assists against Chelsea. In fact I'm looking forward to the Chelsea implosion. Scholari to be on the beach in Rio by Christmas day:D

The entire English defence, because I've never seen them as comfortable on the ball as the majority present in Austria and Switzerland.

I overheard a bloke on the train today saying he hadn't been impressed with any of the defences at Euro 08, "but obviously England's defence is the best in Europe". i'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks that's utter bollocks.

Boularouz. His reputation as a useless hoofing bastard with the defensive capabilities of the Maginot Line has dived, to reveal a fairl decent defender who played tonight despite suffering a lot this week.

i had to read that 3 times before i got what you were actually saying, i thought you were being ridiculously harsh at first.

It's hilarious, isn't it. You'd hope the England players might be watching the matches in the hope of learning something, but they're all on yachts enjoying their Sunday roast. With exception of Owen Hargreaves possibly.

I half agree with the first part, because some of the marking at set pieces has been woeful. Whether English defenders would be any better is highly debatable, but my original observation was that many defenders at the Euros seem very comfortable with the ball at their feet and not looking just hoof it, as an Englishman tends to do.

I guess we can console ourselves with the fact that we didn't lose on penalties this time. :)
