Photos of Harris and Highlands (?) in the 50s

Sweet FA

...and other places.

My grandparents used to go to Harris every year for the summer and I recently got hold of a load of slides (a couple are dated 1959; some are definitely earlier; most are unlabelled).

There are tons of landscapes which I assume haven't changed much but others photos might be of interest. Doesn't Sasaferrato have a connection with Harris?

I don't know Scotland at all so have no idea where most are taken tbh.

My grandpa fished and shot things and always had several springer spaniels around. They feature on a lot of the photos.

Freckles* managing to stay still enough for the photo, though the blurred tail suggests he was finding it difficult:

Coca (Freckles' mum) snoozing in the village near Macclesfield where my mum was brought up ('57 maybe):

*Later to eat something poisonous and go blind in one eye; lived to 16.

**Named after he slipped the lead as a pup and swam across the reservoir; grew to be massive dog (for a springer)
