Pedestrian killed outside Lambeth Town Hall, helicopter in attendance

story

Changing the facts
... and sirens are playing.

Anyone know what's happened? Hope it's an exercise and not an injury.

It's landed on that patch of green at the bottom of St Matthew's Road. (Someone told me that's our local plague pit... True?)

Hope it's something to do with yesterday's anniversary and nothing serious.

Oh lordy...

I was about to say "hope it's not too serious", but it must be if the air ambulance has been in attendance.

Just got back from Brixton. The word from the many many bystanders is that a child has been killed running for the bus. Their was a tarpaulin covering a body in the road. Really really sad to see.

They were definately talking about a child while I was there. Strange how the stories differ from the truth. I even overheard a lady telling someone she was on the bus and saw the child get hit. Very strange. Either way, it's very sad and my thoughts are with the family involved.

Air Ambulance always mean: pretty fucked :/

re: local plague pit, err, not sure, but I remember going to party/ies in the underground whatever that used to be there

And says he was trapped under a lorry. Awful; horrible.

Incident happened at 9:30, according to that link you posted, editor, and I posted the thread at 9:43. That's a quick response.

The helicopter tried to land in Central Square.
The downdraft blew down two sides of the hoardings the builders have around Raleigh Hall. A huge length of heavy 8' high barrier crashed down on the pavement and the path to the Library. Lucky there wasn't another tragedy. They put it back the same as it was. Steer well clear.

We urgently need more kerbed-in cycle lanes and off-road cycle lanes in London and other busy cities - like this:

Not only is it safer, but it benefits motorised traffic by getting bikes out of the way - which is especially useful for buses, the drivers of which often get frustrated by cyclists sharing the bus lanes and delaying them. Sadly, I don't expect anyone to be investing much soon. How many more cyclists have to die needlessly? :(:(
