Osama bin Laden killed by US forces in Pakistan

anyone read the article in the mirror that no one had a tape to measure OBL and they had to get Black Op guys to lay next to him in order to get a measurement? :D

has there been any discussion on the theory that the Yanks did not kill OBL, but rather that they HAVE him?

No - in fact, that's one thing I haven't heard about in the "he's been dead for years"/"he didn't really exist"/"he's still alive and hiding away" etc talk that's been going on all around this. You reckon he could be having cosy chats with his captors/handlers etc in Gitmo/Riyadh Hilton? :hmm:
 
Far be it for me to poke the fires of conspiracy, but if you were going to (at least try to) assassinate Gaddafi when would be a good time - maybe 2-3 days before taking out ObL? Hadly time to get excited before a bigger story over took that partic state killing.

Got his son and grandchilden, but just missed the target.

Good theory, definitely more in line with US tactics, but the surviving women/kids would blow that story out of the water, unless they faked a headshot and stunned him. I understand at least one young female is in Pakistani custody. Not that anyone knows her name, she could easily disappear given Pakistan's attitude to girls.

They intended to snatch everyone after all, the helicopter fucked up supposedly (unlikely deliberate, lots of red faces regarding stealth designs and modifications to allow more silent flight).

I would be unsurprised if OBL was currently strapped into a special cellroom at Langley being pumped full of sodium pethadine or whatever Jack Bauer has in his black briefcase. In fact I'm quite happy with the idea.

And I see Obama still hasn't closed Guantanamo yet.

Seems to be quite a popular theory amongst some cynical (Irish) Republicans who were trying to reason why the 'dumping at sea'/no body scenario.

Yeah, sounds a bit those people who think that Hitler ended up being carted off to Moscow for a fireside chat with Uncle Joe instead of carking it in the Fuhrerbunker, because of the "no body" thing. Questions, questions....Mind you, even if their (really rather unfeasible) suspicions were true, what would there be for Ossie to give up to the Yanquis? By all accounts, he'd been out of the AQ loop for aeons, his health was pretty ropey, AQ had adopted the "leaderles resistance" as practised by US fashbo nutjobs, and his 9/11 masterplan wasn't even his idea in the first place. Apart from nostalgic reminders of Ossie's Greatest Hits on the computer found at the compound (if indeed he had a PC there!), I doubt they would've got out of him any new plans for World Islamic Domination....

How many kids were suddenly made orphans in this operation? Bin Laden's & the courier's I suppose. And whose fault was that? I'd say their parents.

Any Pakistanis who are 'We Hate USA' members were already members. They should look at the actions of their government....the Mumbai attack, sheltering Bin Laden, supporting the Taliban.

What would you have had Obama do? Be nice & civilized & inform Pakistan of his location? He'd have been crazy to trust them.

And who the hell wants to go to Karachi?

Perhaps they need to be pointed to the fact that it was just a major cock-up....
