I was really quite dissapointed by 'smile' - found it over produced and glossy
It didn't knock me out like "Pet Sounds", to which it'll always be compared, but I've only listened to it once. I've now read the notes and on subsequent listens I'll try and pay attention to the alternative styling and soundscapes that are talked about.

Panda Bear ~ Person Pitch

Caetano Veloso ~ Caetano Veloso 1969

Quasimoto ~ The Unseen

Lair Of The Minotaur ~ The Ultimate Destroyer

Ronnie Von ~ A Misteriosa Luta Do Reino De Parassempre Contra O Imperio De Nunca Mais

The Fall ~ Fall Heads Roll

Boris ~ Heavy Rocks

thomas truax - full moon over wowtown
sons and daughters - love the cup
client - city

Shellac - Excellent Italian Greyhound.

it's amazing, after just 4 albums, they've got a formula (not counting Action Park). A couple of shouty hardcore tunes, a couple of dumbass throwaway things, a couple of curious instrumentals and then about 3 songs that take your skin off and justify the rest of it.

Paco's interesting - when they've done it live, its noodly-ness has irked (cos i've been pissed, i guess :D ) but on the album it's lovely

4hero - two pages. hoping to finally get to the end of it and work out if any of the tracks are worth keeping

Aqualung at the moment.

But have been listening to:

Pulp (His & Hers)

International Staff Songsters (they do a lovely "Vespa")

Helena (used to see her a lot when I lived in Brizzle)

Neutral Milk Hotel (In the Aeroplane over the Sea)

Jermaine Dupri - "Life In 1472"
Missy Elliott - "The Cookbook"
Kid Koala - Breezeblock mix
Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz - "Crunk Juice"
Dykehouse - "Midrange"

Iggy and the Stooges - Raw Power

Production's so shite on this album, but does capture that electricity :D

The '73 Bowie production was fucking atrocious. :(

By comparison, the '97 mix by Iggy is superbly savage.
