Lard - The Power Of Lard EP - it's the tits

It certainly is! Surely one of the best records EVAH.

If I ever have cause to do a striptease on stage, I want my soundtrack to be Hellfudge.

The Von Bondies - Lack of Communication

Great record. Trouble is I snapped my copy in half by mistake and haven't been able to find a replacement out in here in the cultural desert that is north devon :(

I'm listening to Bloc Party's new album, as part of my resolution to actually try listening to some of these new indie-pop bands before I go around slagging them off...

I'll burn it for you if you want :)

I'm back on the old Anthology of American Folk Music. It was released in 1952, but most of the recordings date from before the war. It's truly fascinating, and really, really good. One that will repay repeated listening, I think.

:) Can I have a track listing?

In a similar vein, if you like that sort of music, Bob Dylan and The Band's 'Basement Tapes' are well worth a listen. Not the official ones, but the bootleg five-CD set, which is just Dylan and the The Band pissing about in the basement of the Big Pink. They wrote and rehearsed some of the songs that were later recorded and officially released, but they also did a load of folk tunes and covers of other songs.

It's one of my favourite bodies of music ever. I know Dylan's voice is an acquired taste but I love it, and his version of 'Four Strong Winds' is IMHO the most spine-chillingly beautiful rendition of a wonderful song.
