Maybe it's the Ticketmaster booth?

They might release details nearer the time. Will let you know if I find out

I'm still awaiting my tickets by email to print off as well

Am just off to Post Office now though to pick up other tickets I bought for the swimming and goalball

can you get access to the anish kappoor helter skelter with that ticket?
I was wondering that. Given that according to him, they're going to charge something like £10 to go up it after the games, I can't imagine they'll let you go up if you've only paid a fiver for your ticket :(

They've sold out anyway.

grasping cunts. At the very least everyone in tower hamlets or hackney or wherever should get in for free for a nosy.

What about the rest of us council tax payers?

Anyway, I believe a lot of them did. My friend who lives in Newham got in to see the rehearsals for opening ceremony because he's a resident

Details for The Orbit

.
Important information about visiting the Orbit
An Orbit ticket on its own will not give you access to the Olympic Park. Please only purchase a ticket for the Orbit if you already have an Olympic Park ticket or a ticket for a sport session in the Olympic Park on the day you wish to visit the Orbit. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

The Orbit experience will last approximately 30 minutes from entering the lift to returning down the external staircase. Please arrive at the Orbit at least 15 minutes before your session start time and be prepared to queue for approximately 45 minutes.

Full price tickets for the Orbit are £15, with special price tickets at £7 for young people aged 16 or under and seniors aged 60 or over. For more information please read the ticket prices and competition schedule for the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games

wow - how many tickets did you get minne? I'd love to have gone to the swimming.

Tickets for the swimming for me and friend (although not the ones I wanted as there's an Irish swimmer I wanted to see). Swimming tickets don't entitle you to a Day Pass so we won't be able to see anything else that day except for the Olympic Park grounds.

Tickets for goalball (which include Olympic Day Pass). That's an evening session I picked as wanted to see the park at night-time, whereas swimming one is 9.30am, and there's no way I'm going to stay there all day. Wanted Velodrome ones but hospital appointments got in the way of that

I've just received my "print at home" tickets for the Olympic Park which I shall be giving away to my sister if she wants them

There's no Orbit tickets available on the day we're going

I don't think I've ever felt more frustrated by an inability to buy tickets in my life

ETA: not just the Orbit - the whole bloody thing obv :D

Bollocks, some cycling tickets became available a few hours ago but they were for next Friday which is no good to me. Gone now

I got a day pass for the olympic park plus tickets to see wheelchair basketball at Greenwich
The day pass says it lasts from 10-3pm. Are there gonna be massive queues to get in then? Is it right that you can't bring any drink or food in at all? Like not even a few nuts in my pocket or a flapjack or something.

Picked up my tickets today (missed Post Office yesterday). Now getting emails.

One of them says you can bring food in, so long as it fits in your bag

  • Bring as little as possible with you: one medium-sized handbag or small backpack bag is allowed per person (maximum 25 litres). There are no storage facilities available. You can bring food, provided it fits in your bag, and an empty plastic water bottle to fill up inside the Olympic Park. You cannot bring in liquids over 100ml. Read the full list of prohibited and restricted items
  • Please do not arrive before the start time on your ticket: you can only enter the Olympic Park between the times shown on your ticket. On 9 September, the Olympic Park will close at 3pm for preparations for the Closing Ceremony – please ensure you have left or are making your way out of the Olympic Park by then.

Second point might be worth noting for whoever it was who was saying their session doesn't start 'til the afternoon and doesn't include a Day Pass. Still worth checking though. If I have a ticket for swimming that finishes at 11.30, then how are they going to stop me walking around the Park for the rest of the day, whereas if someone has a ticket for a session at 3.30pm, does that mean they can't get into the park 'til 3.30pm? Furthermore, if they're asking you to arrive at hour or two before your session, then if the queues are moving quickly, you could be in the Park before your session anyway :hmm:

eta: Ignore above, that's in relation to Olympic Park non event sessions

Oh, I asked for you where the Hyde Park ticket office was and he was unaware of one.

He said the only places to pick up tickets now are Stratford Gate and Horseguards (near the Cabinet War Rooms). Ticket office open 8.00am-8.00pm

Charging people to see...nothing.

No please, take all the piss you like. I wasn't using it anyway.
It's not "nothing". There's plenty to see and do: big screens to watch the action on, and garden and river areas to wander around, and other stuff. The Park is massive! Plenty of people have expressed an interest in going just to soak up the atmosphere. In any case no one is forcing you to go.
That's precisely why it should be free to get into the park.

They've sold out anyway.

Don't be silly. The Park is packed enough as it is without letting anyone just wander in. I can just imagine the queues at security if one could just turn up and get in.....

Yeah, the horseguards ticket office was originally advertised as being in Hyde park. Picked up my tickets and free travel pass on Saturday. Hurray :)
