Nice holiday villa somewhere warm and short haul?

Interested in any recommendations; this Easter we have a rare occurrence of a full week or so of school holiday before Passover, hence we can actually go somewhere, so would like to catch some early sun.

Keen on France and Italy, but also Turkey, Grecian islands et al; Paphos in Cyprus is a frontrunner right now. We like there to be historical stuff to see and I will grudgingly say the kids and husband will would probably like a beach, and we prefer self catering.

Anyone stayed somewhere they'd recommend?

South Coast of Turkey is nice - Kas or maybe Kalkan. No megaplex resorts, lots of Roman ruins in the vicinity, lovely sea and beaches.

Red Sea is a safer bet for being warm in Easter.

We rented one for the whole summer near Bandol in the south of France, was lovely:

3 bedrooms, an acre of grounds surrounded by vineyards, 10 minutes from the beach, 10 minutes from Le Beausset which has shops and shit.

Was very nice.

But it will be cold at Easter, as will Spain, head to the Canaries, there are good deals to be had on villas there, we rented on in Lanzarote at Christmas and it was also lush.

I agree with Dalyan. I go away at the end of every April, as there's a bank holiday in Turkey on the 23rd, and for the past two years it's been consistently warm.

I actually really liked Santa Eularia, Ibiza. Well, Siesta technically, which is spill-over suburb of Santa Eularia, all easily walkable distances though. Place we stayed was in a residential block, so hardly any tourists, locals were really friendly, had its' own pool but beach 5 minutes away.
