I'm hoping to start streaming for a couple of hours midweek and have been looking into the platforms - supposedly YouTube is shit hot on cutting audio on copyrighted material, hence I'm planning on using Twitch instead.You tube just shut down the hacienda stream in the middle of Roger Sanchez's set for "policy violations"
Twitch I gather will mute audio but only on the archived recording, not live.
Worth bearing in mind in the future if you have a choice of streams, YouTube is the worst option.

Yes- I've been thinking of doing similar. Think I've sorted all the audio issues out using OBS studio but then think if I've got this far, I don't want a bloody internet site like YT to fuck it all up. I have watched plenty of streams on YT over the last few days where the dj doesn't own the copyright to the tracks he/she is playing & didn't see any set taken down/audio interrupted for copyright violation. Is it down to algorhythms?

Yeah apparently the STREETrave livestream (with a fairly similar line-up to the Hacienda livestream) has just been stopped on both Facebbok and YouTube. The Hacienda stream didn't just get muted, they blanked it out too! I'm just amazed that such big events with such big names are having those kind of problems.

the one time ive seen it this week was a really famous tune...i think it was Fish Go Deep IIRC and a message came up saying Sony owned the copyright
I think most music that DJs play isnt pulled on youtube - see all the endless uploaded one tune vids out there - but the more commercial the more chance

I read that you need 1,000 followers on youtube to be able to stream IIRC. I think Ive fluked 968 or thereabouts! Mainly because I uploaded E2-E4
Id expect someone like Boiler Room pay Vevo or simliar for license?? Who knows...I dont!
